My first beetle bug painting....and I was in the studio working on a floral, put the Itty Bitty up to the  colorful canvas filled with blooms.  I think I need to paint in a bug or bumble bee to the floral!

Contemporary Floral Still Life

This past week marked our 40th wedding anniversary, and I received a beautiful floral arrangement from my husband.  It was stunning...and the blooms are still going strong and at the studio so that I can paint from life.  I zoomed in on the arrangement and focused on the sunflowers, tulips, irises, and the free-flowing petals.  This painting is drying in the studio.  It is available for purchase.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

I painted this still life in the studio, and it is varnished and drying.  I wanted to focus on the lavenders and greens, with punches of turquoise.  I decided I like the turquoise, and worked it into the background.

Plein Air at White Rock Lake

Thank you, Dutch Art Gallery for displaying, framing and selling this plein air piece.  I remember setting up to do a quick painting of the lake, with the marina in the background.  There were a few sailboat out, and I captured one in my painting.  Using a palette knife I put some scruffy tall grass in the foreground.  It was a great day to paint at the lake!  Thanks for looking....KMW

I like to shake things up in the studio.  Sometimes I work on 6 feet wide canvases, and sometimes I paint on 3 inch canvases. What a fun change!  I just explored some new subject matter for the Itty Bitty Series...a couple of cheeseburgers, some new vases, prickly pear cactus and some different color combinations.  These smalls are great gifts, and when placed on an easel adds a little happiness to the room!
