Hideout

Hideout
Oil on 6" x 6" gessoed masonite
This little painting started out as a nest series painting, but for some reason the eggs wanted to be laying in the grass...hiding out. Therefore, Hideout is the name of this piece. If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. To view more works, go to: www.kwyne.com

On the easel...

On the easel...another painting that was started, and then left to sit a while.

Here is another painting that is sitting on my easel....unfinished. I need to really focus and add some shadows and detail on this one. I had taken a photo of the Lucky Dog hot dog stand in New Orleans....they were all over the city. This is on a 12" x 12" gallery wrap canvas....so it shouldn't take me too long to finish up. Maybe I will get to the studio this afternoon and tackle it!! Thanks for viewing my blog. Have an artful day!

p.s. Several of my friends have asked about the Cedars Open Studio Tour 2009. Mark your calendar----it will be Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. More information can be found at: www.cedarsopenstudios.com.

Nest Series: Three Eggs

Nest Series: Three Eggs
This painting is 10" x 10" oil on masonite, framed up in a gold plein air frame. I finished all the nest paintings yesterday, and worked on some other pieces. The studio is a wreck because Sharon is installing shelving in the storage room. Everyone is cleaning house and going through supplies and materials. It will be nice once it is all installed. I hope to finish up all the paintings that are half-started, or maybe I should say half-completed. Thanks for looking at my blog and my paintings...I hope that you have a good weekend.

Nest Series: Two Eggs

Today's posting is a 9" x 12" canvas oil painting. The little eggs are nestled down in the colorful nest. I finished a few more paintings at the studio yesterday, and worked on a portrait. I have a mixed media piece that I need to work on today, which is spread out all over my dining room table. I hope you have an artful Wednesday! Thanks for viewing my blog.

Mixed Media - Commission/Sold

Today's posting is a mixed media piece that is on a 12" x 12" gallery wrap canvas. It was a commission piece for a couple in Minnesota. I worked with Theresa, as she wanted something special to give her husband for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. She sent me an envelope of photos and momentos, and I put this together for them. Happy Anniversary to Scott & Theresa!

Abstract Arabian

Abstract Arabian
Palette Knife Oil Painting
Gallery Wrap Canvas 12" x 18"
After a short break, I am back in the swing of things. I was at the studio yesterday, and finished up a couple of paintings that had been sitting on the easel. This is one of them. I wanted to get the porportions correct on this horse, but wanted to get creative with the application of color. I think I did that....I am off to Art Class at Stewpot this morning, and hope to paint this afternoon. Thanks for viewing this blog!

Studio Time at Studio Art & Soul

I have four paintings going right now, and they need some more attention before I consider them finished. I have a New Orleans street scene, an abstract horse, a huge abstract that is going to send me to the art supply store because of the amount of paint I a using, and a small street scene. I need to focus on finishing one of them up before I start my bouy painting. Carol has a friend who is a photographer, and has shared some of her photographs for reference material. Ruby, the pug went and painted with me (I am dog sitting)...she is one of the studio doggies, owned by Mark and John who are in New Mexico vacationing. Suzy and Karen are also playing it cool in Angel Fire. I hope to have some new paintings to post in the next day or so. I hope that you have an artful, cool day....

Fifteen at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary

Fifteen
18" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Last night was the opening of the membership show at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary. "Fifteen" was the theme of the show. It was a great turnout and fun time. Lots of art. Lots of good art.

I will be heading to the studio today. I am missing my camera...but John will be home with it tonight, so I will be able to post some new works this week.
