Lucky Dogs Street Scene

Lucky Dogs Street Scene is a small oil painting, 12" x 12" on gallery wrap canvas.  I was inspired to paint the street vendors close to the French Quarters in New Orleans on a visit several years ago.  This painting has been donated to Taste of the NFL for the silent auction to be held (in New Orleans) at the annual event the eve before the Super Bowl.  Go to http://www.tasteofthenfl.com for more information on this fun event that raises millions of dollars for food banks.

Lucky Dogs by Kay Wyne

Lucky Dogs
12" x 12"
Original Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
If you have visited New Orleans, I am sure that this painting will strike a cord with you. The Lucky Dog carts on the corner are great. I have a friend who has been in NOLA, so I thought I would post this painting. Thanks for looking. Have a great Father's Day!

Lucky Dog Stand

Lucky Dog Stand
9" x 12" Oil on canvas
This palette knife painting has layers of color applied to the canvas. I painted this New Orleans Lucky Dog stand earlier this year with a brush. I wanted to see how the two look next to each other. Actually, I think I like the palette knife painting better. It doesn't have all the detail that the first painting has. I finished up five small paintings yesterday, and have several on the easel waiting for finishing touches. Thanks for viewing this blog!

Lucky Dog

Lucky Dog---Finished or Unfinished?
12" x 12" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
I painted it, signed, brought it home from the studio, and someone in this house did not think it was finished. John asked where the vendor was. Ugh. I took a photo in New Orleans last spring with a chubby little vendor at his hot dog stand. I don't know why I left him out, but now that I am thinking about it, I think he needs to be standing behind the stand preparing his hot dogs. So for now it is finished, but I will put the fellow in when the mood hits me. As for my painting today, I had a great day at the studio. I have been painting a horsey/rodeo painting for the past two days, and I am thinking it is almost completed. Of course, I could sign it, bring it home and discover that it really isn't finished and that it is missing something.

On the easel...

On the easel...another painting that was started, and then left to sit a while.

Here is another painting that is sitting on my easel....unfinished. I need to really focus and add some shadows and detail on this one. I had taken a photo of the Lucky Dog hot dog stand in New Orleans....they were all over the city. This is on a 12" x 12" gallery wrap canvas....so it shouldn't take me too long to finish up. Maybe I will get to the studio this afternoon and tackle it!! Thanks for viewing my blog. Have an artful day!

p.s. Several of my friends have asked about the Cedars Open Studio Tour 2009. Mark your calendar----it will be Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. More information can be found at: www.cedarsopenstudios.com.
