Anyway The Wind Blows

Anyway The Wind Blows
36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Landscape Painting
My color palette with just about every color in the book....lots of violets, reds, greens, ochres, turquoise, raspberry ....it is all in there.  I can imagine standing in a large open field with the wind blowing, and seeing so many colors, with them fading off into the horizon.  Every blade of tall grass is a different  in color, giving this painting a fresh contemporary feel.  I would hope that the viewer would look at this painting and be able to feel the wind whipping around.  This painting is ready to hang...with or without a frame.   Contact Kay for more info on this painting.  Kay

Oh So Proud - SOLD!

Oh So Proud
Oil on Linen
Sold!
This contemporary turkey sold yesterday at The Dutch Art Gallery Dallas TX.
Thanks to owner Pam Massar who sold it to a collector from out of state.  Also a big thanks to Mimi....who encouraged me to paint a turkey several months ago, a creature that had not made it to my easel until I was asked to do a commission.  I have painted many roosters and chickens, but for some reason, the Tom Turkey had not been attempted.  Thanks for viewing my blog...we have returned from a eight day trip to Maine, so I have some ideas and wonderful inspiration for some new paintings!  Thanks, Kay

Landscape by Kay Wyne

Colorado Landscape

This painting was inspired by a photo that my husband took about fifteen years ago when he went to New Mexico and Colorado on a fishing trip. Snaggletooth

Snaggletooth
Oil on 12" x 12" Gallery Wrap Canvas
Every good dog deserves a portrait. This is Mack. Mack is quite a character, owned by my Uncle Scott. I wanted to do a quick painting of this pug who has a snaggletooth.
I really didn't have a very good picture of Mack because he doesn't pose for the camera.
He is full of energy, is so cute and has attitude!!!
I am going to let it dry for a few days before I decide if it is finished or not.
Thanks for looking at this blog! Kay

Just Because

Just Because

My inspiration for this painting was a beautiful arrangement that son in-law Wes gave to daughter Lindsay. I asked what the occasion was......."just because" was the answer that I got. Painting the is drying at the studio. I used thick strokes with the palette knife.
Here is a close-up of the painting....the paint is built up on the canvas. Thanks for viewing this art blog. Have a good day...Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

This and that on my easel....

This cow was standing in green grass yesterday. I don't care for green paint so I painted it all out....and going for the yellow ocher in the field. My reference photograph was taken in the winter, so I am changing everything up. More tomorrow...
This is a page out of Sharon Hodge's Moleskine for my April (yes, I started it the last day of April). The finished painting was an odd size...6" x 21". I could paint anything, and so I painted one of my favorite things....a nest. Thanks for viewing my blog and the art on my easel. I have some other things going....hope to put the final touches on those paintings. Kay

Once In a Blue Moon

Once In a Blue Moon - SOLD!
16" x 20" Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Oil Painting
Once in a Blue Moon ... a phrase that we have all heard. This was a topic of conversation in the Wyne house lately....it is a common way of saying not very often, but what exactly is a Blue Moon? It is the second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month. That occurred last December, when we had a Full Moon on the 2nd and the 31st. According to the experts, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.
Once in a Blue Moon is also a title for lyrics to songs....like the Van Morrison song....
Once in a blue moon
Something good comes along
Once in a blue moon
Everything's not going wrong
When you get weary
Beating on the same old gong
Once in a blue moon
Someone like you comes along
When I started the above painting, I had a collage look going, starting with the words, Once in a Blue Moon painted on the canvas several times. If you look closely you can see them under the layers of paint. You can also see two images of horses, geometric figures and layers of paint along with oil crayons. There is alot of movement in the painting and the eye jumps from one shape to the next shape. This contemporary abstract oil painting is now signed and completed after weeks on the easel. It is on a gallery wrap canvas, so no frame is needed. The collector who now owns this painting lives in Connecticut. Thanks for viewing this blog!

Elsie

Elsie
Oil on Canvas
16" x 20"
Currently at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas
I am posting Elsie because I was not able to photograph my latest painting today. This contemporary cow is all framed up and sitting at Dutch Art. It rained all afternoon, and Dallas had some nasty weather. That kind of throws you off schedule when you are without power! I hope to post my newest race horse tommorrow. Thanks so much for viewing this blog. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in any of my paintings.

Parade Route

This painting was sold on Saturday at the Dutch Art Gallery. It is a 12" x 12" gessoed masonite oil painting. I was inspired by the beads hanging on fences, telephone wires, trees...all over New Orleans. I just could not believe that these beads were left behind....just a sign of what a fun, colorful party town New Orleans is. I hope the new owner of this painting enjoys it! Thanks for viewing my blog.

On the easel...

On the easel...another painting that was started, and then left to sit a while.

Here is another painting that is sitting on my easel....unfinished. I need to really focus and add some shadows and detail on this one. I had taken a photo of the Lucky Dog hot dog stand in New Orleans....they were all over the city. This is on a 12" x 12" gallery wrap canvas....so it shouldn't take me too long to finish up. Maybe I will get to the studio this afternoon and tackle it!! Thanks for viewing my blog. Have an artful day!

p.s. Several of my friends have asked about the Cedars Open Studio Tour 2009. Mark your calendar----it will be Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. More information can be found at: www.cedarsopenstudios.com.

Mailboxes

Mailboxes

This painting is hanging in my parent's home in Illinois. It is rather large...24" x 36" canvas. It is framed up in a barn-wood frame. It is one of those paintings that kind of makes you stop and look. I painted this a while back, and my inspiration was a line of mailboxes along a country side road. I did not get to work at the studio yesterday, but I am working on a commission piece....mixed - media and hope to wrap that up today. I hope you have a good Monday! Thanks for viewing my blog.
