Blooming Bonnet

Blooming Bonnet
24" x 20" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Floral
After letting this painting sit for a couple of months, I was ready to finish it off.  I put the vase on a table, added some fallen leaves and petals.  When I started this painting, I had a beautiful fresh arrangement of flowers from my florist.  Once they died, I used a photograph as reference, and added more petals to the composition.  The vase is interesting, and was sitting around the studio holding pencils and brushes.  This painting is drying in the studio.  I can't wait to get it all framed up!  Thanks, KMW

Tight Bunch

"Tight Bunch"
10" x 10" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
Lately we have had fresh floral arrangements in the studio.  I decided that these white roses were needing to be painted!  This is a bird's eye view of the compact arrangement.  Green is a challenge for me, and I mixed and mixed so many greens and greys for this painting.  This painting is drying in the studio, will be framed up and ready for a new home soon.  Thanks for looking at my art.  Kay

Blooms

Blooms
Quadriptych
40" x 40" Oil on Four Canvases/Each canvas 20" x 20"
Contemporary Floral Painting
I have had this large painting on my large easel in the studio for several months.  It started out with a fresh floral arrangement from my local florist in a beautiful antique silver champagne bucket. I did not like the composition I had drawn out on a canvas, so I decided to look at the arrangement from a bird's eye view.  The original arrangement only lasted a week, so I worked off of a photograph once the blooms had died.

Once I put my big shapes in, I decided that the painting needed more variety, more color and just more.  So that part was fun, as I added layer after layer.  This painting is drying in the studio.  I need to sign it, varnish it and then it will be ready for a frame (optional).  Thanks for looking at my art....please contact Kay with any questions or comments.

Morning Rose

Morning Rose
10" x 10" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Floral
While strolling through a beautiful Tucson neighborhood, I captured a photo of one exquisite yellow rose in a stunning garden.  I was amazed at the colors and full shapes of the yellow roses.  I wanted to capture it's rolling petals as the stucco home was the backdrop for this painting.  I wish I had knocked on the front door and thanked the owners for having such a show-stopper of a front yard!  This painting is very wet...and it is drying in the studio.  Contact Kay for more info.  This painting is available for purchase.  KMW

Fresh Pick

Fresh Pick
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
A bird's eye view of this arrangement while sitting on the front porch this summer Up North was the inspiration for this painting.  Who new that nephew JH had flower arrangement skills!  I believe he carefully hand-picked these stems and then made the arrangement, which I complimented him on!  I quickly snapped a bird's eye view and used my photo in the studio.  Here's my photo:

Unititled

Untitled Floral
48" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
Layers of color, shapes, and lines were painted to create this dynamic oil painting.  I didn't have a game plan when I started this painting.  Simply drawing on the canvas and building this arrangement was very exciting.  I went to my local florist and had some fresh blooms, and with my imagination, filled up the canvas with more greenery and flowers.  This painting is drying.  It is available for purchase, and it need a good name!  Any help on that would be appreciated!  Thanks for looking at my art, Kay Wyne

Petals

Petals
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Botanical Still Life/Palette Knife Painting
I was happy to be in the studio yesterday as it was over 100 degrees outside.  Summertime in Texas is hot!  I had a good time painting this floral.  I wanted to paint quickly with my brushstrokes and knife marks hitting the canvas, putting it down, and leaving it alone.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my art....KMW

Crowded

Crowded
6" x 6" Oil on Cotton Panel
Contemporary Floral
It's been extremely hot in Dallas, so I have been spending most of my time in the studio at my easel.  Painting small panels is satisfying when I can knock out a painting in two hours or less.  But, to change it up I have a large canvas to start today.  "Crowded" is drying, and will be looking for a new home soon.  Thanks for looking at my blog, Kay

After painting on a large canvas, I was ready to paint sometime simple and small.  This little floral has crisp brushstrokes, thanks to my new brushes that haven't been used much.  This painting is drying in the studio, and I will probably frame it up!  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

On My Easel - Thoughtful

On My Easel...
Thoughtful
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Botanical
My painting was put on hold for several weeks, but I am back in the studio and my easel has been kind to me.  I couldn't paint the beautiful arrangement given to me by friends during my recuperation.  Of course I took photos of the arrangement as reference.  This week I have been painting for the sake of painting...and it was so much fun!  Thanks to my friends for being so thoughtful! This painting is very close to being finished.  I will let it sit on the easel, and make any minor adjustments.  Thanks for looking...Kay
