Missed The Boat

Missed The Boat
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Oil Painting
This small painting is currently hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery....Pam Massar has framed this piece in a handsome dark plein aire frame with a gold lip.  The rocks were painted with a palette knife, and a wide brush was used to paint the boat.  Contact Pam  if you are interested in this painting that was inspired by the beautiful scenery in Maine.  Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted here.  I have a new painting that I am jazzed about...it is a large one, so I will be posting it when it is completed.  KMW

Interupted Dreams

Interupted Dreams
36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract
This painting is hanging at the studio, and is ready to ship to a new home.  There is a dragonfly on the canvas, along with geometric shapes that are randomly placed.  I felt like I was having a dream while painting, and that I kept waking up.  You know that feeling.  Therefore, the canvas has an interupted or disjointed feel.  Thanks for looking at this blog....contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com for more information  on this painting.  KMW

The Inside Track - Sold

The Inside Track
Oil on Canvas
24" x 30"
Sold
This painting is sold, but I was looking at some new canvas, thinking I was in the mood for a race horse painting.  There were several things about this painting that I liked, including the background, not just he horses. This painting conveys the energy, excitement, and competitiveness of the horse race. Maybe today is a horsey day in the studio....thanks for viewing.  Kay@kwyne.com.  KMW

Change

Change
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Oil Painting
This painting is hanging down at the Omni Hotel Gift Shop in downtown Dallas.
John and I were visiting the Omni and took some photos....a fun day.

Lone Star
After the Omni we drove a few blocks over to Fuel City to see the newest addition.....a white buffalo.  Lone Star is expecting, so it will be fun to watch her.  She didn't hang out with the longhorns....

These longhorns are impressive and right in the middle of Dallas!

Outside the Omni Hotel were these huge initials....I couldn't resist.  The wind was blowing like crazy, and although the kw was up for a convention, I decided I needed a pic!

Palette Knife Cow - Sold

Contemporary Cow
Palette Knife Painting
Sold!
This contemporary cow sold at The Dutch Art Gallery Dallas TX.
Thanks to owner Pam Massar who sold it to a collector from California.  I had just finished painting it, and had not put a title on it yet.  The photograph that I used for inspiration was taken down in the hill country of Texas a couple of years ago at a painting workshop.  I am anxious to see this painting framed up.  Thanks for viewing....Kay

Burrito Wagon

Burrito Wagon
24" x 24" Mixed Media
NFS
This is one of my very first stabs at mixed media.  It started in a workshop, and then I completed it in the studio.  I had used images of some of our favorite places in New Mexico, and because of the subject matter and colors my husband John really liked this piece and it hangs in our home office.
Here is a close-up, as you can see there is a lot going on.  Fabric, torn paper, crayons, confetti paper, old map, paint and images of New Mexico cover the canvas.  I was visiting with another artist the other day, encouraging her to try mixed media..... so this post is for Susan.  Susan is a photographer with a wonderful portfolio.  The possibilities are limitless for some new work, maybe mixed media, using altered photographs.  I found some wonderful papers and images the other day, and it was kind of putting me in the mood to tackle another mixed media piece.  I always have my oils out, so pulling out the acrylics and mixed media supplies always shakes things up.  Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted here.  Have a great day.....Kay

Standing My Ground

Standing My Ground
12" x 9" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
$400
This painting is very wet---I used a palette knife to apply the paint, giving it a thick, textured look.
One of the best things about a palette knife painting is that the clean-up is much easier than if you used brushes.  I roughed it up and scraped through some of the layers.  This guy is standing his ground and is looking for a new home.  If you are interested in purchasing, please contact me!  kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325.  Thanks for viewing...Kay

Bloom

Bloom
10" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Oil Painting
This is the third and last painting from the bouquet of flowers.  I took liberties on this one, and painted the vase shorter and wider, and filled the canvas up with color.  Vibrant colors....no mud on this painting.  Thanks for looking at the art on this blog.  kay@kwyne.com  Kay

Simple Pleasures

Simple Pleasures
12" x 12" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Floral Painting
I enjoyed painting this one....I had the canvas toned down with Napthol Red, and then painted Icey Blue background.  I was getting ready to toss a floral arrangement, and I squinted my eyes and really tried to simplify the shapes and this is what I saw.  I saw simple shapes.  I changed some of the colors, but the shapes were there.  I thought about adding some lines with oil bars, but I think I am finished with this abstract.  The canvas is chunky, and this 12" x 12" is ready to hang!  No frame needed.  I liked the clean colors and the playful look.  Looks happy!  Thanks for viewing.  kay@kwyne.com  Kay

A Heavy Dose of Color

A Heavy Dose of Color
12" x 10" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Floral Painting
When I got to the studio yesterday, I set up a still life....John's cousins had sent us a beautiful arrangement, so I took them to the studio.   I hadn't painted flowers just for the sake of painting flowers in a long time.  Here is a pic of the set-up and the first phase of the painting.

I enjoyed the exercise so much that I think I will go back to the studio and do all again today....Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted here.  Kay@kwyne.com   KMW

Brown Eggs

Brown Eggs
14" x 18" Oil on Canvas
I like brown eggs, and we have a friend who has a great chicken coop and colorful chicks, producing beautiful brown eggs.  Everytime I see this nest painting, I think of all of the chickens being raised in the city of Dallas.....lots.  We have a neighbor who has started raising them.  You won't see me raising chickens....I just like to paint them!  Contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com if you are interested in this painting.  Thanks for viewing....Kay
