A Lot Going On

"A Lot Going On"
36" x 36" Oil, oil bars and crayon on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
One of my main objectives in this piece was to explore a border with the very bold floral.  I used several different tools, many brushes and Woody crayons and oil bars. It took a while, but I am at a point that I think it is finished, and it is drying in the studio.  It's a fun and whimsical painting.  Thanks for looking at my work....Kay

High Drama
Contemporary Abstract
24" x 24" Oil and Charcoal on Gallery Wrap Canvas
I worked on this mixed media piece this week, and pushed and pulled the images.  I wanted the flowers to go in and out of focus, and loose some edges.  If you look closely, you can see I used charcoal to draw into the paint.  I was experimenting with some different color combinations.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my art.  Kay

Now that I am looking at this abstract, I see a city road map.  The lines outline shapes and lead into other spaces and shapes on the canvas.  This panel would look great framed up in a floater frame.  It is varnished, and available for purchase.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking, Kay

Extravagant Ways

Extravagant Ways
Oil and Oil Stick on 40" x 40" Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Floral
I love painting on large square canvases.  This 40" x 40" canvas is a mixed media piece because I used charcoal, oils, and oil bars.  Using the willow charcoal stick, I scraped into the layered oil when it was wet.  I enjoyed experimenting with different color combos as I worked my way through the painting.  The asymmetrical design and irregular shapes gives the imagination a chance to go to work.  Contact Kay for more info on this original painting.  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  KMW

Contemporary Floral Still Life
Tangerine, lavender, red, sage, magenta and touches of white on a natural birch board make this piece unique.  Mixed media is so much fun...I used acrylic and watercolor paint, crayon, and hand made papers.  My floral vase and bouquet is abstract and whimsical, colorful with texture.  This painting is ready to hang...frame is not needed.  Contact Kay for purchasing information.  Thanks for looking at this blog!  Kay

18" x 18" Mixed Media on Birch Cradleboard
Contemporary Floral Still Life
I was not able to get a painting in yesterday...so I pulled something off the wall of the studio to post.  This is a colorful and abstract mixed media piece, with tissue paper, hand made papers, acrylic paint, and crayon.  I enjoyed putting this one together, and wanted the magenta, red and orange to bounce off the cradleboard.  I want the viewer to smile or feel happiness when looking at this piece.  This is Day # 20 in the 30/30 Paint Challenge!  I can't wait to get a full day of painting in at the studio.  I have a cow and rooster that is in progress...Maybe I will post one of them tomorrow.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Contact Kay with any questions or comments.  KMW

Bold colors, torn paper, acrylic paint, crayon, and handmade paper were used to create this floral still life.  It is abstract, whimsical and colorful.  Contact Kay for purchasing information.  Today I am recovering from Christmas with the family.  Here are a few pics from yesterday....

This little guy (to be named) was a surprise to daughter Lindsay from her hubby, Wes.  We all loved the surprise and seeing it all unfold!
