Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy
40" x 40" Oil, Oil Bar and Charcoal on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract
This large canvas went through a lot of changes over the past week...Layers of drawings, brushwork and scraping finally got me to the place where I felt like this abstract was finished. It's drying in the studio, with the sides of the canvas painted a dark vulcan grey.  (Framing is optional....it's wired, and ready to hang!)  The spice of turquoise offsets the muted pinks, whites and greys.  When you look up close you can see drawings in charcoal that come and go.  I named this abstract Cotton Candy because it of the shades of pink...and it was so much fun to create!  Thanks for looking at my blog..Kay

Extravagant Ways

Extravagant Ways
Oil and Oil Stick on 40" x 40" Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Floral
I love painting on large square canvases.  This 40" x 40" canvas is drying in the studio, waiting to be varnished.  Actually this is a mixed media piece because I used charcoal, oils, and oil bars.  Using the willow charcoal stick, I scraped into the layered oil when it was wet.  I enjoyed experimenting with different color combos as I worked my way through the painting.  The asymmetrical design and irregular shapes gives the imagination a chance to go to work.  Contact Kay for more info on this original painting.  KMW

Random Ideas by Kay Wyne

Random Ideas
40" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
Sometimes I feel like my brain has all these ideas for painting and I can't get into the studio fast enough to get the paint on the canvas.  That is exactly what happened when I painted this colorful abstract. I used scrapers, brushes and palette knifes to put the paint down, and painted very fast.  The result is a fresh and unexpected abstract.  Random Ideas is at the studio, and available for purchase.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking....KMW

Persuasion
Diptych
48" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Each canvas is 24" x 48", but hang them side by side and you have a large square.  This palette knife painting has layers of beautiful colors and movement.  Punches of tangerine and turquoise against the greys, lavenders, pinks and blues make this abstract interesting.  Contact Kay Wyne for more information on this contemporary palette knife painting.  It is available for purchase.  Thanks, Kay
