Color Conversation

36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas

Contemporary Floral

I loved painting this canvas in the new studio with lots of natural light shining down on the easel.  I used brushes and palette knives to apply the thick juicy oils.  On the vase, I carved out the paint to make the pattern play.  I focused on mixing harmonious colors as I worked my way through this painting.  Adding shapes and lines as I progressed, it was so fun to paint.  Contact Kay for more info on her art!  Thanks for looking....Kay

Plein Air/White Rock Lake, Dallas

January in Dallas can be very warm or brutally cold.  Yesterday John and I went to White Rock Lake...the sun was out, but it was windy and very chilly.  The weather conditions forced me to paint fast.  I wanted to nail the colors to get a feel for the day.  The brush and scrubby trees were right in front of my set-up (see photo below).

Thanks for looking at my art.  Please contact ME with any questions or comments.  This painting will be available for purchase once it has dried.  Kay

Contemporary Palette Knife Painting

What do you do when you get a new palette knife?  Paint a palette knife painting!!!  I was so excited to get some new painting supplies, and since I have dropped (ruined) some of my knives, I decided to treat myself to a new one.  As I was playing with the paint, pushing and pulling the juicie oils, I came up with this abstract.  Lots of texture.  Beautiful colors.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  This painting is hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.  Contact ME with any questions or comments!  Kay

20" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

I can post this painting now that it has been gifted to Alex, the runner in the painting.  His father wanted to give him something special for his birthday, and when he saw the photo of him running on this trail, he knew to call me!  I believe that Alex gets the photo credit, as he had set his phone up with a timer to take the photograph that I used as my inspiration.  Thanks for looking at my blog, and Happy Birthday to Alex!  KMW
