Still Life Diptych (untitled)

Untitled Abstract / Diptych
(I need help on the titles!)
Each canvas 16" x 16" / Hung together, 16" x 32"
Oil and Charcoal on Gallery Wrap Canvas
I painted these canvases side by side in the studio.  I wanted each canvas to be it's own painting, but they could also hang together and compliment each other.  I love the color palette and looseness of the paintings.  I painted, scraped, and drew on them.  The abstractness of the still life lets the viewer's eye roam the paintings to see and discover new shapes and possibilities.  I am letting these dry in the studio...and then they need a new home!  Thanks for looking.  Kay

Still Life Installation

Here's a couple of Veggie Still Life Paintings, all framed up.
They were painted about twelve years apart....the small painting was a paint challenge with Karin Jurick.
The horizontal painting was painted in Sept. 2022 for the Strada Easel Challenge.
It's great getting them framed up and hung at one of my favorite collector's----she has a perfect spot in her kitchen, and they add color and interest to her wall.  Thanks for looking at my blog....KMW

Untitled Still Life

Veggie Untitled Still Life
16" x 16" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Still Life
I started this painting during the Strada Easel Challenge, and really liked the subject matter on this panel.  I added a few details on the corn and radishes, and changed the background color. The cabbage was so much fun to paint...I need to go to Sprouts more often and purchase colorful and interesting veggies and fruit.  I can't wait to varnish and frame this painting up!  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks, KMW

Radishes

Radishes
8" x 16" Oil on Panel
Painting from life.
These are called Easter Egg Radishes...fun to paint, but I am not a big fan of their taste.  The greens wilted on me as I painted them in the studio under a light.
This painting is drying in the studio...thanks for looking, Kay

Petals

Petals
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Botanical Still Life/Palette Knife Painting
I was happy to be in the studio yesterday as it was over 100 degrees outside.  Summertime in Texas is hot!  I had a good time painting this floral.  I wanted to paint quickly with my brushstrokes and knife marks hitting the canvas, putting it down, and leaving it alone.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my art....KMW

I painted this still life in the studio, and it is varnished and drying.  I wanted to focus on the lavenders and greens, with punches of turquoise.  I decided I like the turquoise, and worked it into the background.

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Rock, Paper, Scissors
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Still Life
Day #29 Strada Easel Challenge/Painting from Life
This was a fun little painting, I grabbed scissors, went to the parking lot and picked up a rock, and scrunched up a piece of paper.  The background is turquoise, although it appears to have some cobalt in it. I may add some more shadows to give it more depth.  And a hi-light or two.  I know our little grands will be able to talk about this painting!
Here's my studio set-up:

Untitled

Untitled
40" x 24" x 2" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
I have been on a floral kick for months...and I painted this canvas in the studio this week.  I started with a photograph of a beautiful and colorful arrangement that I had earlier this year, but changed the composition up.  I added and deleted some of the petals...and as it started to take shape, I made the necessary adjustments.  It was lots of fun, as I was painting for myself, painting for the sake of painting.

I have a new color that I love...it's called Moonglow.  After I put the first layer of the background on the canvas, I decided to mix up my own Moonglow...and that was fun, playing around with three colors, trying to match a color out of a tube.  This painting is drying in the studio...I will probably let it rest, dry and sit on an easel---giving me the opportunity to look at it and decide if it is finished.  Thanks for looking at my blog...contact ME with any questions or comments.  KMW
