White on White

White On White
12" x 12" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Botanical Still Life
When one of your studio mates brings a fresh floral arrangement (from my favorite local florist) to the studio, the only thing to do is paint it!  The hydrangeas, peonies and roses were white, but in observing the petals, I found so many whites...cool whites, warm whites, yellow whites, grey whites, green whites....and everything in between.  I had a good time mixing colors!  I started painting this from life, but then used reference photos for the second day.  Thank you to RMN for sharing the stunning arrangement!  This painting is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my art....KMW

Hydrangeas
SOLD!
10" x 10" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Still Life
Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers to paint.  I liked the softness and subtle shadows in this arrangement, and it is pleasing to the eye.  This painting has been sold, and it is on it's way to a new home.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Hydrangeas on Tangerine

Hydrangeas on Tangerine
NFS
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
This bunch of hydrangeas has a new home in San Francisco, along with some of my other works.  I gifted this to JG as he came out of retirement after one year.  I told him everyone needs a "coming out of retirement" gift!  I was thrilled that he framed it and has it displayed in his apartment.  Thanks for looking....KMW

Hydrangeas and Carnations (Again)
Day #19 Strada Easel Challenge
Contemporary Still Life
12" x 16" Oil on Panel
I decided to paint the arrangement of hydrangeas and carnations again, on a larger format and different perspective.  The vase was a challenge, with all of it's texture and shadows.  Thanks for looking at my blog...a different subject matter for Day #20! Kay

Tight Bunch by Kay Wyne

Tight Bunch
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life
Hydrangeas in a vase...a simple but beautiful subject to paint.  The underpainting of coral and pink show through, as I wanted the arrangement to be light and airy.  This painting is available ---- contact Kay Wyne for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking...Kay

Still Life

Sunflowers, Hydrangeas and Grapes:  A Still Life
40" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life Painting
This still life is the latest art challenge going on in the studio.  I personally think it is interesting, busy and colorful...and it was fun to paint!  Obviously there is a lot going on, with 8 or 9 vases, 2 candlesticks, sunflowers, hydrangeas, grapes, an orange, leaves, 5 or 6 different fabrics, weeds, greenery, and just a lot of stuff.  The textures are wonderful...silver, ceramic, dried weeds, soft fabric, and I think there was a dead rat in there somewhere.  It was put together by Sharon, and everyone has been asked to paint it...or at least parts of it.
Here's my view of the set-up from my easel.
This painting is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas..
Thanks for looking at my art posted here...Kay Wyne

Tight Bunch by Kay Wyne

Tight Bunch
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life Painting
I picked up a couple of bunches of hydrangeas at Trader Joe's this week and set up a simple still life.  We were hosting Karen Blair - contemporary artist from Virginia, at the studio and this floral arrangement came in handy, as almost all the artists painted it.  I chose not to use any medium on this painting because I wanted a thick painterly look on the canvas.  It will take a long time for the oils to dry!  Here is a close-up:
Thanks for taking a peak at this painting.  "Tight Bunch" is drying at the studio, but will be looking for a new home in the near future.  Thanks, Kay
