On The Table

On The Table
20" x 20" Oil and Charcoal on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Still Life
I think this canvas is finished...it is sitting on my easel in the studio.   I will take a few days to live with it, and maybe make a few minor changes.  Fun shapes, whimsical marks and bold colors give this canvas eye appeal.  Thanks for looking at my blog....Kay

Abstract In Orange

Abstract in Orange
8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Abstract
I started with shapes and colors, and now I have floral abstract.  I normally paint abstracts on large surfaces---so painting this small one was different for me.  When I left this painting yesterday, I thought it was finished, but I may add some lines and drawing on it.  Yesterday was a fun day with an almost full studio, and working at my easel with friends is just the best.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Random Ideas

Random Ideas
40" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
Sometimes I feel like my brain has all these ideas for painting and I can't get into the studio fast enough to get the paint on the canvas.  That is exactly what happened when I painted this colorful abstract. I used scrapers, brushes and palette knifes to put the paint down, and painted very fast.  Then I used oil bars.  The result is a fresh and unexpected abstract.  "Random Ideas" is at the studio, and available for purchase.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking....KMW

Colors In My Garden

Colors In My Garden
12" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Floral Abstract
This floral painting is very abstract.  The lines and shapes are painted with thick oils-you can see the brush strokes.  The colors are bold and beautiful.  This painting needs a frame, and would be handsome in a silver/pewter moulding.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  KMW

Bursting Forward

Bursting Forward
36" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
Layers of color, texture and variety in brush strokes give this large canvas interest.  The subject matter is one of my favorites to painting....florals and more florals!  Using the palette knife gives me the opportunity to fraction the paint and change up my edges on the petals.  This floral is looking for a new home...and does not require framing.  Contact Kay for more information on this contemporary floral.  Thanks for looking...KMW

Yes, this panel is 4" x 4"...a change-up from my normal size canvas.  I prefer large scale canvases, but started working on this small series about a year ago, and have completed several of these smalls.  They will make great gifts or small accent pieces.  Contact Kay for more information.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  KMW

Field of Color by Kay Wyne

Field of Color
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Landscape Painting
"Field of Color" is currently hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  The colors in the landscape change as your eye wanders across the canvas.  The changes in color are gradual, as I spent a lot of time mixing piles and piles of juicy oils before I started painting.  I worked the paint with a palette knife, pushing and pulling the paint until I accomplished what I wanted to.  The sky  meets the horizon in a misty far-away distance.  The canvas has texture from the application of the thick oils being applied with the knife.  The sides of the canvas are painted, so framing is optional.  Contact Kay for more info on this painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Kay

Smell The Flowers - Sold

Smell The Flowers
Sold
This small palette knife painting sold yesterday at the Dutch Art Gallery's 50th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Artist's Reception.  Lots of collectors came out to see the show, meet the artists and enjoy the live music, food and drinks.    It was good to see old friends and then meet new ones.  Congratulations to gallery owners Pam and Hans Massar for fifty years of representing artists and custom framing.  Thanks to collector Lew Ann for purchasing this painting...I had the opportunity to visit with her, as she has several of my paintings.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Kay
