The Time Is Now by Kay Wyne

The Time Is Now
40" x 30" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life
This floral still life is full of color, interesting shapes, and just plain happy!  The oils were applied with a wide brush, without getting too fussy.  The violets, ice blues, greens, and yellows pop off the orange and reddish orange background.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting!  Thanks for looking at my art.  KMW

Contemporary Landscape Painting
This colorful landscape has a new home in Dallas!  I am thrilled that a Dallas collector has purchased "Anyway The Wind Blows".  I favor a square format, and 36" x 36" is a great size to use when painting landscapes.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Contact Kay Wyne for more information on my contemporary landscapes.  KMW

Shea Baby

Shea Baby
30" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Dog Portrait
This painting shows what a great dog looks like when she is happy with her tennis ball.  I wanted to catch her in action, full of energy.  The bold brushstrokes are wide, colorful and deliberate.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Kay

Courageous

Courageous
30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
Courageous is a contemporary abstract painting with bold colors.  I started with a titan buff background so that the ochre, scarlet and the blues would bounce off of each other.  The wide brushstrokes give the canvas movement, energy and boldness.  I was careful not to create muddy colors...something that is so easy to do when painting in oils.  This painting was painted horizontally, but as we have experimented in the studio, it can hang vertically.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks, Kay

Fifteen Minute Flip Flop

Quick Fifteen Minute Painting
Beachy Flip Flops
I have been finishing up two commission pieces at the studio, and had some paint leftover on my palette...I needed to paint something loose and colorful. So here you go...Beachy Flip Flops...this oil is on a 12" x 12" gessoed masonite. I used a wide flat brush and cut loose with the colors. No detail on this one. When you are working on a piece that requires FC (the dreaded Forced Creativity) it helps to jump on a canvas that you don't have to think about, stew about, or push yourself into FC. I will not post three of my commissions until after Christmas since they are gifts for some. Thanks for viewing this blog...Kay

The Inside Track

The Inside Track
Oil on Canvas
24" x 30"
I finished this painting. Normally I paint odd numbers of objects or subject matter in my paintings, but four horses seemed to work for me on this canvas. I did have some horses in the background at one time, but decided to blurr the background completely. Initially I had the starting stalls in the background with roof and sky painted in, but I changed my plans. The horse with the green blinker on the inside track is in the lead. This painting conveys the energy, excitement, and competitiveness of the horse race. This painting will be for sale once it dries and placed up at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Thanks for viewing this blog. Please contact me if you are interested in this painting that is fresh off the easel!

Elsie by Kay Wyne

Elsie
16" x 20" Oil on canvas
Framed, currently hanging at Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas
I pulled this photo of a painting I did.... to look at Elsie's eyes. Wide brush strokes and splashes of color hit Elsie in this contemporary oil painting. My brushes were not kind to me today....I have three paintings on the easel, and at the end of the afternoon, picked up my palette knife and started spreading the paint. Hopefully tomorrow will be more successful in the studio. Please contact me if you interested in purchasing this painting.

On my easel......

Red Rooster after two days of painting...This canvas is extremely wet. After thick application of paint with a wide brush, I started layering the paint with a knife. The paint needs to set up before I finish the eyes and hit him with some hi-lites. I don't know if I am going to the studio today or not. If I do go, I need to let this one rest and work on something else. Have a warm and artful day.

Painted Face

Painted Face
Oil on 24" x 24" Gallery Wrap Canvas
$500
This painting was inspired from a photograph that I took in 1977 on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Busby, Montana. I had taken this photo at a Pow Wow and have always liked the clothing this child had on...all of the beads, leather, feathers....and I aged the child...he turned into a man on the canvas. Of course I added my own color and shapes. Lots of wide brush strokes and geometric shapes. I finished this yesterday in the studio. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing.
