Summertime

Summertime
36" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Seascape/Beach
It's finished and drying in the studio.  I wanted to get that warm, beachy feeling on this canvas.  My hope is that the viewer will be able to feel the sand, wind and water that you only get at the beach.  Contact Kay for more information.  Thanks for viewing!  KMW

In Cranfills Gap-The Rock Church

Rock Church
12" x 12" Oil on Museum Quality Panel
Contemporary Landscape
Reference photo credit:  Missy Rodgers
Several years ago Missy took a fabulous photo of the historical Rock Church.  I started to paint it, and for some reason got bored or distracted.  But today I was jazzed about the painting, went into the studio and finished it.  You can read about the church:  Cranfills Gap The Rock Church.

The Haubold Homecoming...still wet!

The Haubold Homecoming
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
I wanted to capture the excitement, love and big hug when Stacy and Kyle saw each other after months of being thousands of miles apart. The photograph that I used for a reference had more detail, more people and more things going on around the couple. I loved the flowers in his hand as he squeezed sweet Stacy when he came off the submarine. I almost painted in all the people in the background, but I wanted all the focus to be on the couple, and wanted to paint a very simple painting. I used broad, flat brush strokes and bold color. It was a fun painting to paint. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Haubold on the reunion in Hawaii!
And by the way, you have to come to Dallas to pick up your painting.
Merry Christmas from Mama Kay!

Colorado Landscape

Colorado Landscape
Oil on Linen
12" x 16"
This painting was inspired by a photo that my husband took about fifteen years ago when he went to New Mexico and Colorado on a fishing trip. The rugged landscape of Colorado is so beautiful that I had to paint it. It will be hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery once it is dry. Contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325.

Happy Mothers---here is a Vase of Flowers

Vase of Flowers
Happy Mother's Day, Mary Lou
Oil on Canvas
Happy Mother's Day to my Mom! I'll pretend that this is real vase of flowers and that I am giving them to her today, even though she is in Illinois and I am in Texas. I do get to have a special day because ALL of my kiddos are here....Blake, Lindsay & Wes!!! I am not sure what our day will bring and what our plans are, but getting to see everyone is great. I hope that you are able to spend your day with your family. Thanks for viewing my blog.

The Inside Track

The Inside Track
Oil on Canvas
24" x 30"
I finished this painting. Normally I paint odd numbers of objects or subject matter in my paintings, but four horses seemed to work for me on this canvas. I did have some horses in the background at one time, but decided to blurr the background completely. Initially I had the starting stalls in the background with roof and sky painted in, but I changed my plans. The horse with the green blinker on the inside track is in the lead. This painting conveys the energy, excitement, and competitiveness of the horse race. This painting will be for sale once it dries and placed up at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Thanks for viewing this blog. Please contact me if you are interested in this painting that is fresh off the easel!

Murphy, The Dachshund

Murphy
Very Wet!
Oil on 9" x 12" canvas
This dachshund belongs to Lindsey Pharr...Murphy lives in Houston, Texas. I might need to make a couple of adjustments on this painting, but it is extremely wet right now. I used Yellow Ochre, Cad Red, Burnt Umber and Violet to get his rusty burnt color on his hair. This impressionistic painting has broad brushstrokes loaded with paint. My reference photograph was not real good, and I could not tell what color his little eyes were, but they were pretty dark....dark umber or close to black. I need to study this little fellow some more before I sign it. And maybe a few strokes on the red collar. I could not see the doggie tag in the photo, but it could be a Texas A & M dog tag.
