Colorado Landscape Study

Colorado Landscape Study
24" x 30" Oil on Canvas
Framed in gold plein air frame.
Day 8 in Leslie's 30/30 Paint Challenge

Today's post is a painting that I did when I returned from Colorado last year.  I was going to post a new painting, but after looking at it on the computer, decided I needed to tweak it today.  So a new painting will be posted tomorrow!  This painting was a good exercise for me, and I concentrated on the background receding, and getting the foreground to pop with color.  Contact Kay Wyne with comments or questions.  Thanks, Kay

Colorado Landscape Study

Colorado Landscape Study-NFS
24" x 30" Oil on Canvas Board
Workshop Painting
This painting is piece that I was working on in a Don Sahli workshop.
I was using one of Don's fabulous paintings as a reference point....and really
working on my colors.  Don has a wonderful sense of color as
his painting, "Early Summer Color, Shrine Pass".  I was able to focus
on the color green, which is a challenge for me.

Landscape by Kay Wyne

Landscape
Oil on Linen
12" x 16"
This painting was inspired by a photo that my husband took about fifteen years ago when he went to New Mexico and Colorado on a fishing trip. The rugged landscape of Colorado is so beautiful that I had to paint it. Contact Kay or call me at 214-532-0325 for purchasing information.  Thanks for viewing....Kay

Dilly-Dally

Dilly-Dally
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
Abstract shapes, soft blended colors, and texture are characteristics found in this contemporary abstract painting.  Layers of color were applied with a palette knife, and a large, wide  brush softened the hard edges of the paints.  Contact Kay for more information on this palette knife painting.  It is drying at the studio...thanks for looking at this blog....Kay

Palette Knife Landscape - Untitled - Sold

Contemporary Landscape
20" x 24" Oil on RayMar Panel
Palette Knife Painting
Sold
I usually photograph my paintings without a frame, but decided to change it up this time.  This is a really heavy frame with some brass details along the inside of the moulding...very handsome.  I remember painting this, and I really got into the movement and let the palette knife do all the work.  I sold this painting two weeks ago, but need give it a name, varnish and ship to Minnesota.  Thanks for looking at my art.  I have two new paintings that I was able to complete yesterday.  They are drying at the studio.  Look for them on tomorrow's blog.  Thanks, Kay

You Color My World

You Color My World
8" x 16" Oil on Cotton Panel
This contemporary aspen painting is drying, and I will be getting it framed up. I will probably put a wide silver moulding on it. This color palette that I used has more green in it than I normally like to use. I was very careful not to get a muddy green when I was mixing colors. I wanted a clean and bright yellow-green that looks fresh and makes you think of springtime. I used the palette knife of this one. Thanks for looking at the art on this blog.
