Morning Rose

Morning Rose
10" x 10" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Floral
While strolling through a beautiful Tucson neighborhood, I captured a photo of one exquisite yellow rose in a stunning garden.  I was amazed at the colors and full shapes of the yellow roses.  I wanted to capture it's rolling petals as the stucco home was the backdrop for this painting.  I wish I had knocked on the front door and thanked the owners for having such a show-stopper of a front yard!  This painting is very wet...and it is drying in the studio.  Contact Kay for more info.  This painting is available for purchase.  KMW

Contemporary Floral Still Life
Using a limited palette, I mixed my colors for this quick floral.
It was a good exercise, and I am going to paint with three colors and white for a while.  I was playing around with the possibilities.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Kay

Untitled Still Life

Untitled/Floral Still Life
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life
I had to stop painting yesterday....this panel is very wet, and I need to look at it a couple of days to see if any adjustments need to be made.  Probably in the high-lights.  I took a few pics along the way. I started with a toned canvas panel, loosely drew the composition out with a filbert.  I started painting the flowers with a wide bright brush, and mixed a large amount of reds, oranges, yellows and blues for the vase.  I wanted the colors to be crisp, so I had to make every stroke count so the colors didn't get muddy.  I also wanted it to be happy and pleasant to the eye...kind of an escape with all that is going on.  This was a fun one as we are all quarantined and doing our own thing inside.  I will look at this painting and come up with a title for it...Thanks for looking at my blog.  Stay well, Kay

Untitled

Untitled
16" x 20" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Landscape/Palette Knife Painting
Thick layers of paint applied with the palette knife cover this panel.  Texture is the result, and it will take a long time for this one to dry. The colors on my palette were left over from a floral painting...and I had mixed so much paint up that I started this abstract landscape.  I need to come up with a name for it...and give it time to dry.  It will look great in a silver or champagne frame.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Farewell...all framed up!

Farewell
Canvas size:  22" x 28"
Framed size:  28" x 34"
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
I decided that this floral needed to be framed up.  So here is a pic of the painting with the frame.  It dresses it up.  Piles of oil paint were on my palette, and with one palette knife I covered the canvas with a baker's dozen of roses.  I mixed my colors so that every layer of paint would be in harmony with the next layer.  There are small specs of rose, red, and turquoise spicing up the painting, but for the most part greys, lavenders and greens, and naples yellow dominate.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing info.  Thanks, Kay

Timeless

Timeless
60" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Landscape
Timeless is one of my favorite paintings...I liked it so much that I had it printed on my business cards.  The colors were mixed and mixed, and are very harmonious.  There is plenty of texture on the canvas...you can see the palette knife work, almost like frosting on a cake.  Let me know if you have any comments or questions concerning my art...I would love for Timeless to have a new home!  Kay

Wheat Fields

Wheat Fields
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Landscape Painting
A big sky with fast moving clouds and a colorful wheat field is my subject matter for this canvas.  Using a wide flat brush I built up the paint on the clouds, giving them some shape and movement.  The tall grass has reflections of the sky painted in it.  It is ready to hang, as the sides of the canvas are painted and framing is optional.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking...KMW

Flower Power

Flower Power
36" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Painting
A visit to the Dallas Arboretum gave me all the inspiration I needed for this canvas.  I decided that I needed to tone my canvas with a diluted Permanent Rose, then I was ready to start drawing on the canvas.  I used raw umber, olive green and violet to place the flowers and lay-out my road map.

I started with my transparent oils and put a couple of layers on, getting my dioxazine violet,  magenta, olive green, and permanent rose.  The background fades and is somewhat out of focus to create some distance on the canvas.  I mixed up about six different piles of greens, starting with sap, olive, and adding cad yellow and ice blue to get a good range of shades.  I put in the jonquils last because they were opaque, and I did not want to mix my transparent and opaques.  I hope that the viewer has a sense of the beauty and powerful color that I witnessed at the Arboretum.
