It is finally finished.  I started this painting three years ago after a trip to Arizona, and lost interest in it.  The location was Saguaro National Park East.  I revisited the canvas this week and I am glad I did.  The rough landscape of the desert was fun to paint once I had my underpainting in.  I used a palette knife on the mountains, cactus and shrubs.  This painting is drying in the studio, and will be framed up.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

I was painting away in the studio one day last week, when one of my studio mates bought me some peonies from Trader Joe's.  What a nice surprise.  They were stunning.  I had to paint them, and here's my results.  Below are a couple of photos of the set-up and the painting in progress.

Contemporary Abstract Painting

Sometimes I feel like my brain has all these ideas for painting and I can't get into the studio fast enough to get the paint on the canvas.  That is exactly what happened when I painted this colorful abstract. I used scrapers, brushes and palette knifes to put the paint down, and painted very fast.  Then I used oil bars.  The result is a fresh and unexpected abstract.  "Random Ideas" is at the studio, and available for purchase.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking....KMW

Timeless is one of my favorite paintings...I liked it so much that I had it printed on my business cards.  The colors were mixed and mixed, and are very harmonious.  There is plenty of texture on the canvas...you can see the palette knife work, almost like frosting on a cake.  Let me know if you have any comments or questions concerning my art...I would love for Timeless to have a new home!  Kay

"I Can See Forever" is dry, varnished and hanging at the studio.  Using a big filbert brush to paint with, you can see the thick paint and brush marks on the canvas.  I purposely left some of the tinted canvas peaking through in the sky and clouds.  The magentas, reds, ochres in the foreground fade as they go back into the horizon.  I want the viewer to look at this painting and have a good feeling when looking at the open landscape with the big puffy clouds passing by.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay
