Perched up on an rocky island is a little white chapel in the Aegean Sea. Looking at this view every morning in Greece was fabulous. The locals told us that Easter was the only time the chapel is used, as you have to take a small boat from Naxos to get there, then take the steps that lead up to the chapel. The colors in the sea were amazing. I used a palette knife, wide brushes and rubber tools used for ceramics to apply the oils. Thanks for looking at my art...Kay

I have numerous projects going in different directions at the studio. I have four florals started for Dutch Art Gallery, a home improvement project of chalk painting, a cross stitch project for a Christmas gift, painting on index cards, and then at home I am working on a jigsaw puzzle, and have my watercolors out in the home studio. And I am reading more. That's how I am handling the Covid19 Pandemic. Although Dallas is starting to open up and relax the stay at home rules, I don't think we will be going out and about quite yet. Finished! I focused on mixing colors that were harmonious and layered them with my palette knife. The paint is applied with some impasto to give it body and expedite the drying time. This is a small palette knife painting that is completed, with touches of cad red in it leading up to the focal point. The color combinations are not my normal, as I was experimenting with some paints I had mixed up. I had a really bad day in the studio yesterday, and my easel was not friendly. So I am not going to post the painting that I eventually wiped after I spend three hours struggling...I will go back today and hopefully it will be a different story. Stay safe and at home. I may take it home to enjoy now that it has a handsome frame on it. I have been working in the studio and soaking up our sunshine, and obeying the "stay in shelter" rules we have in Dallas. En Plein Air Palette Knife Painting
This is probably one of my favorite plein air paintings. I have so many paintings that I started outside, but was unable to finish. I stuck it out on this one, even though it was a very cold and windy December day at White Rock Lake. I like the feel of the painting...kind of moody, and because I used the palette knife, there was a lot of scraping and modeling of the oils.
