Untitled--but finished!

Untitled
48" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life
I have been working on this canvas for a few weeks, and I can say that it is finished!  I really like painting some of the Blue Spode pieces in my house...and this ginger jar was no exception.  I decided to take the top off the jar and put in flowers...all with the palette knife, so there is plenty of texture.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Contact me if you have a good title for it, or have any questions.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Surprise

Surprise
16" x 20" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
I was painting away in the studio one day last week, when one of my studio mates bought me some peonies from Trader Joe's.  What a nice surprise.  They were stunning.  I had to paint them, and here's my results.  Below are a couple of photos of the set-up and the painting in progress.

Thanks for looking at my blog...if you are interested in this painting, or have any comments, please feel free to contact me.  This painting will be framed up after it dries.  Kay

New Small Series: Itty Bitty #1

Itty Bitty #1
3" x 3" Oil on Cradle Board
Small Floral
It's a mini blue vase filled with flowers on a very teeny weeny surface.  It would of been easier for me to paint this on a 3 foot by 3 foot canvas.  I had an idea about a year ago for these small multi-media boards.  I purchased over 100 of them, so I have more Itty Bitty paintings to do!  The paint was applied with a small filbert, and I ended up pushing the paint around with a wipe-out tool.  It is drying in the studio....will post more of these fun little ones.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Contact Kay Wyne for more info.  KMW

P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You
40" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life
This canvas is drying in the studio, as I finished it off with some fresh colorful oil bars.  I had good time painting this abstract, and getting back into the groove of painting---it's hard to be away from the studio and lose your creative painting mode.  I am hoping to get some momentum going.  I focused on the lines and colors in "P.S. I Love You", wanting a fun, colorful and expressive abstract.  Contact ME for more info on this painting!  Have an artful day...Kay

Posy by Kay Wyne

Posy
36" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life Painting
As with most of my paintings, this one went through several phases.  I started with three layers of transparent color, painting chaos and just getting the canvas covered.  I like the indigo, so I started drawing a boat, but it quickly turned into stripes and then an abstract floral.  There is a companion canvas.....which was meant to be a diptych.  But the composition wasn't working out for a 36" x 72" format.  If you look closely you can see the drips, the lines, the layers of color.  This painting is drying in the studio---I might need to add a few touches of darks on the petals.  The sides of the gallery wrap canvas are painted a dark Vulcan Grey.  Framing is not necessary.  Contact Kay Wyne for more information.

Blue Vase

Blue Vase
24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Thick paint and oil bars were used to create this floral still life painting.  I used the palette knife to layer the paint and build up the texture for the vase and flowers.  This contemporary abstract still life painting looks great framed up!  Contact Kay for more information.  Thanks for viewing...Kay

Blue Vase

Blue Vase
Oil on 24" x 24" canvas
This is a fast and loose painting that I started a while back, and finished last week. I never have a problem starting paintings, but sometimes don't follow through and complete them, especially if I run in to a problem or have to really work something out. I used the palette knife on this painting after I brushed in the shapes. I hope to get down to the studio and Stewpot today for lots of art.
