This painting was inspired by this robin's egg nest, perched up above the front door of the Henry home.  I decided this painting would be a great one to experiment with copper leaf.  The natural earthy colors of the nest worked well with the copper, and the turqoise eggs pop on the canvas.  This painting is drying in the studio, with framing as an option.  Please contact Kay with any questions or comments.  Thanks for looking, KMW

Here's a few Itty Bitty (3" x 3" x 3/4") Nests.

They are all on my easel, and are drying, awaiting to be varnished.

These small nests were fun to paint, and took about eight stages, allowing

the paint to dry after each application of paint.  I used brushes, rubber clay

tools, and palette knives.  I have a BIG canvas on the easel, and it is almost

Contemporary Abstract

The size of this canvas is perfect for birds perched up in a tree.  I painted this in a couple of hours, not sure how many birds would be sitting in the tree.  I started by toning the canvas, then drawing with willow charcoal stick, then with transparent orange and a filbert brush.  I brushed in pieces of color indicating the light peeking through the branches.  This canvas needs a frame...once it is dry I will take it to the frame shop and pick out a handsome moulding.  For now this painting needs to dry in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Kay

I have been working on a commission (not due until Christmas time, 2017) so I can't photograph and show that work, as it is a gift from my client to a relative.  I have five canvases that are almost completed on my easels.  When I say almost, I think they are, but not quiet sure. Good Neighbors

I worked on them side by side last week.

I was painting plein air yesterday...in the heat.  I might go back and paint some more...
