Seagrass and Sand - Sold

Seagrass and Sand
Sold
Thank you to Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for selling this beach scene.  I remember painting it at Seabrook Island, South Carolina while vacationing.  The colors on the island were magnificent, and I was amazed at the tall seagrass.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay Wyne

Watching The Day

Watching The Day
6" x 8" Original Oil on Cotton Panel
This little palette knife painting needs a frame or easel. The vivid colors make the viewer's eye roam the painting. I hope to get to the studio today...I have several projects I am working on at home. Yesterday I worked on a rooster. The canvas is very wet, so letting it set for a day is a good thing. Thanks for viewing, Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Eggs & Tabasco

Today's posting is a quick, small painting on a 6" x 8" cotton panel. Inspired by Carol Marine's daily paintings, I went to the kitchen at the studio and pulled the Tabasco bottle off the shelf and found some of Karen's eggs. I hope to get back in the groove and paint one of these smalls everyday along with my other larger paintings. I like my eggs in this painting...Maybe I need to do another nest and egg painting. I missed painting in the studio yesterday, so I am very anxious to get in there today. I hope you all have a great day.

Sushi Two

Painted on a 6" x 8" cotton panel, this was a fun sushi painting. It is very painterly. You can see the brush strokes. The colors are vivid and intense. It was a fun little painting...if you are into sushi you might enjoy having this painting!!! Contact me at kay@kwyne.com or visit my website: www.kwyne.com

Horizon Series: Abstract 2

Here is another abstract...with more to come. This one is not framed up. It is 6" x 8" on a cotton panel. And it does not have a title. Yet. I might title this series of abstracts with something like Horizon. I am dropping off a piece at Medical City today for a two week show with Texas Visual Arts Association. If you have a suggestion on a name for this series of abstracts, I welcome your input. Have a Happy Derby Day!

Flower Pots

Good Morning, everyone. Spring is in the air...actually spring showers in Dallas. I should be posting photographs of all the flowers in bloom in our yard right now...great colors. But today's painting lives in Illinois with Charlie and Mary Lou. It is a 20" x 24" floral, with good shadows and light hitting the pots and the tile floor. I enjoyed painting the terra cotta pots with the shadows, aged and textured surface. Rich, vibrant colors in the flowers help make the painting interesting...and, I do believe that I did get my greens right in this painting. (I seem to struggle with my greens at times. It is my least favorite color, and sometimes it muddies up my colors.) Enjoy your spring day!

Pastoral Scene

I was driving to the studio on Monday and as I past Old City Park, found some very interesting sheep---right off of Interstate 30, within walking distance of downtown Dallas. I pulled over to take a pic of them...one was staring right at me. Got a great picture as he was staring straight on, like a statue. The posting today on my blog is my first sheep/grazing sheep painting that I did last year. It almost looks like a watercolor painting, but it is oil. I may do a series on sheep...I have a good start on the one at the studio. I can't wait to go work on it!

All Stacked Up

I grabbed three teacups that were hanging in my kitchen, stacked them up and painted them. This oil painting is on a 6" x 8" panel. Now that I look at it, I am not sure that it is finished....I might need to take it back to the studio and add some highlights. I would like to do a large still life with these teacups in it...along with some flowers, books, everyday objects...also, I have been rummaging through old photographs getting some inspiration for some new paintings. And along with finding old photographs, I would say that I am spring cleaning. The weather in Dallas is perfect....82 degrees, sunny, no wind...just perfect! Which reminds me, today is the first day of spring. Happy Spring!

Teapot

Here is a quick study on Grandma's play teaset. I did this at Carol Marine's workshop in Salado. Sheryl, a fellow student told me this teaset was called Fostoria. I don't know my antiques very well. It was quick and fun.
