Seabrook - Sold

Seabrook
SOLD
(Pre-Matthew Hurricane Plein Air Painting)
8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Just sold at Dutch Art Gallery this week!  Here's another Seabrook Island painting that ended up being a palette knife painting.  I got to the beach and realized that I did not have any brushes or medium.  So by default, this seascape is a palette knife painting.  Here's what my set-up was like, with high tide approaching.
Thanks for looking!  Kay

Seagrass and Sand - Sold

Seagrass and Sand
Sold
Thank you to Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for selling this beach scene.  I remember painting it at Seabrook Island, South Carolina while vacationing.  The colors on the island were magnificent, and I was amazed at the tall seagrass.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay Wyne

High Tide

High Tide
NFS
18" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Seascape Painting
I started this beach painting about ten years ago, and with John's urging, I finished it this week!  You may know the man sitting in the chair, watching the tide roll in with water splashing up.  When I starting this painting, the water was calm and smooth, but I decided that it was more interesting with the waves coming in as you are sitting on the beach.  I'm glad I finally completed it, as it is a gift to a very special couple.  Thanks for looking...I am in the studio today starting a new project!  Have an artful day, Kay

Colors of Seabrook by Kay Wyne

Colors of Seabrook
6" x 6" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Painting in plein air on the beach is a great experience.  Last year John and I were at Seabrook Island outside of Charleston and I had the opportunity to beach-it daily.  This small panel is in the studio, and I hope to paint a large canvas with this as guide on the color palette.  I put my brushes away for this painting, and used a palette knife.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Contact ME for more info on my paintings. Sunny Seabrook by Kay Wyne

Sunny Seabrook
8" x 8" Oil on Gessoed Panel
Contemporary Seascape Painting
I used a couple of my plein air paintings as guides for the color on this small painting.  Thick piles of paint were mixed, then I used a Monarch Bright #10 to apply the juicy oils.  The water is a greenish-turquoise, with the sky more cobalt and royal blues.  This painting is drying at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas and waiting to be framed up.  Thanks for looking at my blog...I am back in the studio this week and am excited to be painting!  Have an artful day...Kay Wyne

Seagrass & Sand

Seagrass & Sand
6" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
I was amazed at the seagrass on the coast of Seabrook Island.  I had to paint it, and I would of loved to painted larger, so this is a panel that I worked on and hope to take it into the studio to use as a color study.  We are back, and now we will watch Matthew from the afar.  The mandatory evacuation for the Carolina coast was just beginning as we were leaving.  As I unpack my painting suitcase, sand is everywhere...even in my paintings!  Thanks for looking at this blog...have an artful day!  Kay
