This painting has a new home in Illinois....this image is a little different from many of my paintings....I toned the color down. It is peaceful. Not alot of movement. I wanted the viewer to imagine that he or she is out on the Texas landscape...far from the city or the hussle and bussle of anyone. The grazing sheep are images that don't have alot of detail because they are small compared to the vast landscape. The canvas has big, open sky on the painting, so I am sure that some people could imagine this being in Montana or somewhere out west. (At least west of Dallas.) My inspiration for this painting was an old photograph out of an album....I really don't know where the pic was taken, and I added the sheep for interest. I have painted three paintings with sheep, and hope to do more. Thanks for viewing this blog, and I will be painting at the studio today and hope to post the rooster that I started yesterday. Dallas is in for more snow and bad weather, so I hope that I can get downtown. Have an artful day!!!

Staring At You

This painting is still on the easel. I think. Maybe I am finished with it. Not quite sure. I was driving to the studio a few weeks ago, and in the middle of downtown Dallas is Old City Park...a little village of old buildings and some animals. I was driving, minding my own business and this one sheep was just standing there looking at me...staring at me. I pulled over and took some pics of him. (All of the other goats and sheep ignored me.) So the title of this is Staring At You. I am finished with the sheep, but might change the background. This is on a 24" x 24" gallery wrap canvas. (I just found the photograph that I used as a reference for this painting....and posted it just for fun.)

On the easel...

I had a very productive day at the studio yesterday...it actually went into the evening. I finished up eleven abstracts, and need to put some finishing touches on some other paintings. This is one of them. These two sheep have been in the studio for a couple of months. I don't think that I have the eyes finished. I need to name the sheep, and the painting. If you have any suggestions, please write to me. This is a 20" x 20" gallery wrap canvas...ready to hang as soon as I hit the eyes with some detail.

Pastoral Scene

I was driving to the studio on Monday and as I past Old City Park, found some very interesting sheep---right off of Interstate 30, within walking distance of downtown Dallas. I pulled over to take a pic of them...one was staring right at me. Got a great picture as he was staring straight on, like a statue. The posting today on my blog is my first sheep/grazing sheep painting that I did last year. It almost looks like a watercolor painting, but it is oil. I may do a series on sheep...I have a good start on the one at the studio. I can't wait to go work on it!
