Enchanting

Enchanting
36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Wildflower Landscape
This wildflower landscape painting is completed!  I used the palette knife and brushes to layer the paints.  The clouds started with a warm orange, then layered blues, violets, greys and creamy whites.  You can see some of the base orange color peeking through in the sky.  The flowers in the foreground have thick, layered paint that was applied with the palette knife.  Lots of texture!  Contact Kay for info on this painting.  Thanks, Kay

Drifting

Drifting
24" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Wildflower Landscape Painting
When I started this landscape, I wanted a soft, mystical feel to the painting.  I wanted the viewer to "drift" into the painting and roam around the canvas.  The wildflowers are fading into the background, and everything is still.  Not alot of bold brush strokes going on...which many of my paintings have.  The sky is a soft icey gray-blue, and the wildflowers have magentas, ochres, and blue-greens.  This canvas is stretched on gallery wrap stretcher bars, so frame is not needed.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking...KMW

On My Easel....

On my easel....Yesterday's painting...
22" x 28" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
I may add some more detail to the wildflowers in the foreground, and more hints of flowers trailing back into the background.  I really enjoyed painting this one, using one palette knife with thick paint and impasto.  Mixing colors and playing with the combinations allows me to be creative and experiment.  I hope to put the finishing touches on it today, sign and frame....look here tomorrow!  Thanks for viewing, Kay

Aspens and Wildflowers

Aspens & Wildflowers
24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Landscape Painting
This painting is sitting on my easel...I want to take a few days to look at it, and maybe make some small changes.  I wanted the viewer's eye to look at the colorful wildflowers in the foreground, and then the eye to wander through the canvas to the background.  The aspens have some texture on them....indicating knobby knots and bark.  The leaves are thick strokes of paint....all with the brush.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog!  Kay

Lavender Fields

Lavender Fields
14" x 14" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Landscape Painting
I was exploring the greens and lavenders in wildflower landscapes, and stopped when I got to a point where the painting is abstract, very little detail.  No fussiness and no blending of colors.  This is part of a series of fourteen canvases, all 14" x 14".  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks so much, Kay

Wandering Through

Wandering Through
48" x 60" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This painting is drying at the studio...a contemporary floral landscape bursting with color and texture.  I have been working on this canvas for days...with layers and layers of paint.  The scene is a wide view of wildflowers wandering through the landscape.  The sky is heavy with paint and texture.  Because this painting is on thick stretcher bars/gallery wrap canvas, framing is optional.  This is a great size canvas to hang above a sofa or fireplace.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Kay

Texas Wildflowers

I thought I would post this painting today since it is a gorgeous Texas morning. Although it is too early in the year for the Texas wildflowers, I attempted to capture the beautiful field in this painting. I liked the colors in this painting....I probably need to tackle another wildflower painting.
I had a full day at the studio yesterday, and finished up numerous paintings, signed them and put on the shelf to dry. I hope to be back in the studio today!
