Ki-Wa-Wi-Ka

Ki-Wa-Wi-Ka
24" x 30" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Oil Painting
With the cold and nasty weather that we are having in Texas, I am looking forward to a warm and sunny summer Up North.  This painting is finished, but I still need to varnish.  Thanks for looking at my blog...and stay warm!  Kay

Ki-Wa-Wi-Ka

Ki-Wa-Wi-Ka
24" x 30" Oil on Canvas
Summers in Northern Michigan are special.  The cottage that the Wyne family owned was charming and comfortable.  Ki-Wa-Wi-Ka (built in 1902) always looked like the same, summer after summer.  This painting brings back many memories...happy family times Up North.  I started this painting in 1995, and found it stashed away in the garage.  John urged me to finish it, so I took it to the studio to paint on it.  I am not sure, but it might be finished...I will let it sit and dry for a while.  After 23 years, I am glad that I was pushed to complete it.  Thanks for looking at my blog...Kay

Cottage Still Life

Cottage Still Life
20" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This painting is drying after painting it in Colorado at a Don Sahli workshop.  It was an interesting arrangement...and because of the subject matter, it reminded John and I of the cottage in Michigan.  I loved the enamel pitcher, fruit, antique platter and dish towel it felt like I was pulling things from the cottage for the still life.  The light was bouncing off the ceramic jar and the the fruit.  The oils will take a long time to dry, since I used very little medium with the oils.  Thanks for looking at the art posted here....contact Kay with any questions concerning my art.  Thanks, KMW

Cottage Rose Garden

Cottage Rose Garden

14 3/4" x 20 3/4"
Oil on Panel
This oil painting is framed in a beautiful gold frame.
The paint is applied with a palette knife and brush,

so there is variety in the texture.
One of my favorite things about this painting is the rooftop,

which has layers of oils built up using the palette knife.
The roses in the foreground are also painted with thick paint.
I hope that this colorful landscape painting takes

the viewer to a pleasant place....
maybe England...maybe a countryside cottage.

Rose Garden

Rose Garden is painted on a gessoed masonite and framed in a gold frame. Because I used a palette knife on the cottage, the painting has alot of texture. The cottage is nestled in this painting with roses surrounding it. I hope that you enjoy this painting...thanks for looking!

Rose Garden

Today's painting is the same size and framed up the same as yesterday's posting. This oil painting is on gessoed masonite, and framed in a gold traditional moulding. The cottage windows, brick and roof are all painted with the palette knife.

Cottage

This oil painting is on gessoed masonite, framed. The image/painting is 14 3/4" x 20 3/4" without the gold, traditional frame. The cottage and roof of cottage has alot of palette knife painting. I liked the bright, cheerful look of this painting...it is inviting. No muddy colors. My favorite part of the painting is the front door. I like the shadow that is cast upon the front porch and door. Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing this painting...Thanks!
