Let's Talk About It

 Let's Talk About It
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Photo Inspiration Credit: Renn Lawrence
A pic by photographer Renn Lawrence really captured these two beauties standing in tall grass.  I have been wanting to paint these bovine beauties for a long time.  The pandemic has certainly given me the opportunity and time to do that.  Lee Small Fine Art in Ft. Worth, Texas represents both Renn and I....and Lee is excellent at placing original art in homes and offices.  This painting is drying in the studio, and will look great framed up.  Contact Lee or ME for more info on this painting.

How Now Brown Cow by Kay Wyne

How Now Brown Cow
40" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Bovine Series
Standing in his field, this contemporary cow is looking right at you.  He has the stare going on, and he is as still as a statue.  I had seen this handsome guy at the Ft. Worth Stock Show and had to paint him.  He is dry and ready to hang on the wall.  I painted the sides of the gallery wrap canvas, so framing is optional. Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing information.  Thanks, Kay

I'm Listening!

I'm Listening!
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This contemporary bovine is
This is a good looking short-horn was at the LBJ Ranch, and I loved the way the left ear was perked up as if he was listening to our conversation.  I have had this Hereford sitting on my easel for a month or so...I think I am finished with it.  Here is a close up of the right ear:
I really liked the way the ear turned out...actually it is my favorite part about this painting!  I will let this one dry in the studio, and maybe make a few modifications here and there, but I signed it, and it is pretty much finished.  I don't know what I will be working on tomorrow, but as you can see the month of January is coming to an end....only five more posts on the challenge!  If you have any comments or questions, please contact Kay Wyne.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Kay

Cactus Ranger

Cactus Ranger
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Longhorn
Inspired by a photograph taken by Renn Lawrence...thank you Renn!  I couldn't take my eyes of this longhorn, and finished him in the studio yesterday.  I amped up the colors, but used the photograph as a reference.  I loved the golden yellows, ochres and oranges on his coat.  He is drying at the studio right now...Thanks for looking at him.  Contact Kay Wyne for more information on Cactus Ranger.  Kay

Cowgirl

Cowgirl
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Cow
This painting is currently hanging in the studio...I need to varnish it, and then it will be ready to go to a gallery.  Cowgirl has beautiful coloring, and a soft, pink snout that you want to reach out and touch.  She is looking directly at you, as if she has something on her mind.  Cowgirl was at the Ft. Worth Livestock Show last month.  I have some great reference photos, so there are more cows coming!  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting or any of the art posted.  Have a great day....Kay

Lazy Afternoon

Lazy Afternoon
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
18" x 18" Oil on Canvas
I got my palette knives out yesterday and worked on the landscape with the two cattle.  I would of put some tall grass in the foreground, but the canvas is way too wet with thick paint.  I had to use a very small knife for the the cows to get the small shapes in.  Thanks for looking at my art....email me if you are interested in purchasing.  This is Day 24 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days.  Thanks....KMW

On my easel...

On my easel...
Illinois Pastoral Scene
this was a quick under-painting on a 18" x18" canvas.  For some reason I had a hard time painting yesterday...I want to start with the palette knife today and get some thick layers of paint on.  My reference photo that I was using was from a trip to Illinois last November.  A drive through the countryside landed us on an Amish farm.  I thought these herefords were interesting, because of the markings and usually you don't see cattle lying in the pasture.  Here is my photo:
Thanks for viewing...more to come tomorrow.
