Wrangler on my easel...

After a good session in the studio, I was able to lay this rodeo scene out on a 20" x 24" RayMar cotton panel.  I was encouraged by Renn Lawrence and Lee Small to use the photo that Renn took several years ago.  My intent is to get the background in and then paint that bull and cowboy with some painterly strokes and be finished with it.  My favorite part of this photo is the cowboy (or cowgirl) jeans peaking through the red planks.  I can't wait to get back into the studio to work on this....Thanks for reading my blog.  Kay

Cactus Ranger

Cactus Ranger
20" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Longhorn
Inspired by a photograph taken by Renn Lawrence...thank you Renn!  I couldn't take my eyes of this longhorn, and finished him in the studio yesterday.  I amped up the colors, but used the photograph as a reference.  I loved the golden yellows, ochres and oranges on his coat.  He is drying at the studio right now...Thanks for looking at him.  Contact Kay Wyne for more information on Cactus Ranger.  Kay

On My Easel....

On My Easel....
One good looking bull on a 20" x 20" Gallery Wrap Canvas
I found this pic (taped to my easel on the left) that photographer Renn Lawrence took.  I asked permission to use it and could not wait to paint this bull.  Here is my progress:
Sketching it out on the canvas with some paint and a filbert.
 Covering the canvas with paint.
Starting to paint in the large shapes.
After two sessions at the easel, I have more work to do.
More painting after the weekend...thanks for looking
at this blog and the art posted here.  Kay
