I had taken a photograph of this bovine beauty several years ago, and I was in the mood to paint something different this week. He will look great framed up. Another Nest Series Painting....Very wet, should be ready to frame soon. I finished the Cardinal Nest yesterday. The little tiny eggs are down deep in the nest that was in a bush in our backyard. We are watching the mama and papa Cardinal, and we think that they might be making another nest in another bush. These eggs are not whole...they were broken open and empty when we found them...I had to turn them over and position them so the broken side did not show. I was going through my paintings, and ran across this one. As far as I know, this old building is still standing in Macomb, Illinois. I think it was built in 1926 or 1927...and served up many steam-burgers back in the day. This painting might strike up a memory or two if you have had a burger there. Thanks for viewing this blog! Three weeks ago I went to the Dallas Arboretum to paint. Here is my painting....now finished and framed. Our snow has melted and I will be going to paint at the Arboretum tommorrow. I finished ---- totally finished four paintings today at the studio. That is a good feeling to get something accomplished! More paintings to come on this blog. Thanks for viewing.

On my easel...

Here are two 9" x 12" paintings that might be finished....they are sitting on my easel, and I am thinking about it. I have two other versions of this painting going also. The sky and mountians were painted first. I loved doing the mountains with the palette knife. Two things have given me problems in this painting: The color of the field and the chapel. I have changed the grass to yellow ochre, to sap green, and everything in between. The photograph I have been working from doesn't have much detail in it, and it is very hard for me to see the chapel. I may need to take a break from these paintings, as I have worked on them for two weeks. More to follow on these....I will be doing some Christmas shopping and working on our family Christmas card today. Have a good day, and thanks for viewing my blog!
