24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This palette knife painting is loose and colorful. I used the knife on most of the painting, so there is some texture and thickness to the paint. I also used oil sticks in the background. This painting needs a frame and a new home. If you are interested in this painting, or any of my art, please contact me. Thanks for looking! Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Horizon Series: Abstract Aspens #1111
Horizon Series: Abstract Aspens #1111
This contemporary palette knife painting has layers and layers of color and texture. I started with a base coat of warm gray on sides and front of canvas. After putting my horizon line in, I used oil sticks and brush to apply color. Using the palette knife, I started putting trees in from the horizon line. I wanted more violets, blues and grays to dominate on the canvas. The crimson, burnt orange and turquoise bounce off the cool colors, giving the piece some contrast. The canvas is 36" x 48", and is ready to hang...no fame needed on the gallery wrap canvas. Thanks for viewing this blog and my art.....Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

No Boundaries
No Boundaries
20" x 60" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap
I love the linen showing through on this contemporary aspen painting. When I started painting, I wanted the viewer to be able to see the linen. The natural linen is warm and rich in color. I used a wide, flat brush and the palette knife to apply the oils. The 80" high canvas would look great on a vertical space with a high ceiling...it is ready to ship to the gallery in Santa Fe. Happy Thanksgiving from Kay
Blake Wyne, Lindsay & Wes Henry, Kay & John Wyne
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone...here is a pic of the family last weekend. We won't all be together today, as Blake is in College Station at the Aggie-Longhorn football game....a tradition that may end soon. John and I are cooking, with Lindsay and Wes coming over for football and dinner. I hope that you have a wonderful day and safe travels. I am away from the easel today, but hope to tackle a new race horse painting tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving! Kay

On my easel....Contemporary Cow
This contemporary cow is back on the easel....I need to put his eyes in and work on his snout. Sometimes I get to a certain place in a painting and I loose interest or get distracted. I need to work on this canvas today. Thanks for looking at my blog and art....Kay

On my easel...Contemporary Calf
This calf was standing in a bucket of water....I think it was taken in Illinois in May. I need to check on my reference photograph, if I can find it. This cute baby has a twin. I started this painting about a month ago. I need to work on his eyes and snout. I hope to get inspired to finish him up this week. Thanks for viewing....Kay

Dragonfly Dreaming
Dragonfly Dreaming
This contemporary abstract painting is drying right now at the studio. I may need to rephotograph it, because the colors are not as sharp as they should be. The oranges, violets and crimsons pop of the neutral background. Lines and shapes are painted with wide brush strokes, paint was moved by the palette knife, and oil sticks were used on the gallery wrap canvas. Thanks for viewing this art...Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Mac the Rooster
Mac the Rooster
Palette Knife Painting on 10" x 17" Raymar Panel
This palette knife painting was inspired by a kitchy wooden rooster from Macomb, Illinois. Mary Karas liked roosters, and this one had a prominent place in the Karas kitchen. I remember it well, as I spent many hours at their house growing up. Mrs. Karas gave me this rooster years ago, and it has been roosting in the Wyne kitchen.
Here is the wooden rooster next to the painting. I jazzed up the feathers and exaggerated the length of his neck, and added some color to him. He does have personality! It will probably take months to dry since the paint is very thick. I did not use a brush, only palette knives. Mac was fun to paint, especially since he has a history! Thanks to Mrs. Karas for passing this fine rooster on to the Wyne family, and thank you for viewing this blog and my art. Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Omni Hotel Dallas - Bathroom Art
The new Omni Hotel in Dallas is completed. The ribbon-cutting ceremonies and reception was held last Friday. It is an amazing hotel, with ART everywhere! Here is a pic of a guest room bathroom, and the 32" x 32" mixed media piece that I created. It was a great project, and I met lots of artists while working on it. If you have to opportunity to visit the Omni, you won't be disappointed in the hotel, restaurants, the art....everything is beautiful. All of the art was created by local artists!

Looking For You
Looking For You
18" x 36" x 2 1/4"
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is drying....I used a cooler background color than I normally do on this canvas. The canvas is rather thick, and gives the canvas a chunky, heavy look. I liked the size....more of a small to medium size canvas. I wanted to create some depth, with the viewer looking through the canvas, eye wandering around. The colors on the canvas change from deep violets and purple and greys to roses, oranges and ochers.
Here is a close-up shot of the canvas, as you can see the colors better. A wide, flat brush and palette knife was used to create this painting. Please contact Kay if you are interested in this piece, or any of her other paintings. Thanks, Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Stand Tall
Stand Tall
20" x 60" Oil on Linen
Gallery Wrap - No frame needed.
This contemporary abstract oil painting is drying....it is on oatmeal/natural linen. I loved the linen so much that I did not want to completely paint over all of it, so the natural color of the linen is exposed on all four sides and some of the actual painting. I used a wide brush and palette knife to create this abstract aspen painting. It has a deep, rich color palette, and would look great at the end of a hall or a tall vertical space in a home. Please contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com for more information on this painting. Thanks for looking! Kay

Untitled Landscape
Untitled Landscape
36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting was painted this week in the studio as I am getting back into the swing of things. I was away from painting for two weeks, and had traveled to Charleston, SC and Illinois during that time. I had originally thought that I would paint a South Carolina seascape, but somewhere in the middle of the painting, I decided to make it a landscape. It is drying now, and I will be putting a title on it...Thanks for viewing. Kay

Untitled Abstract Aspens
Untitled Abstract Aspens
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is completed, but I have not given it a title. Blue is the dominate color with some rich purples and rusts. Contrasting colors of turquoise, coral and green are in the falling leaves. This contemporary oil painting has texture since most of the paint was applied with a palette knife. There are some wide brush strokes on the canvas, but for the most part, I used the knife. I have not decided what to name this piece. Thanks for viewing the artwork posted here. Have a great day....Kay at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325.

Season of Color
Season of Color
30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is at the Omni Hotel Convention Center for the ribbon cutting ceremonies this Friday, November 11th. 11 - 11 - 11. What a great date. It will be on display in the Grand Ball Room. Anyone who has been around me knows that I have worked with McKane Consulting on an art project for the new hotel. It has been a really good experience on many levels. I have been working with many Dallas artists, people on the construction side of the hotel and the good people at McKane Consulting. I have met so many neat artists, and have been able to create LOTS of art. More on the project later. This painting is for sale, and if you are interested, please contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com. Thanks for viewing. Kay

24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This buffalo is colorful with wide brushstrokes. It is available for sale, and is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. My inspiration for this painting was a photograph taken by Mark Malone...so I thank him for allowing me to paint my version of this creature. Thanks for viewing....I am trying to recover from the Artists of Texas Annual Membership Show/Artists Reception, held yesterday. It is always great meeting new artists from all over the state, and getting to see their art in person. Thanks, Kay

Over and Over
Over and Over
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is available. I have been away from the easel for two weeks.
This tree is in the neighborhood where my father lives, in Macomb, Illinois. I was visit last week, and the fall colors were magnificent! The trees in central Illinois were golden ochre, burnt orange, crimson, and everything in between. It was the first time in a long time that I was able to see such a variety in the fall leaves.
Change of scenery....Charleston, SC. John and I visited the Huettes who had just moved to Mt. Pleasant this summer. We toured the city, walked along the beaches and enjoyed wonderful seafood. The architecture and landscape were lovely. I was disappointed that I did not see a big old alligator. With these two trips behind me, I am getting ready for the Artist of Texas Annual Membership Show today at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Thanks for viewing, Kay

Color My World
Color My World
48" x 72" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
I loved painting this one....it is at Adieb Khadoure Fine Art in Santa Fe. I am traveling right now, and seeing the fall colors in the midwest. The golds, reds, rusts, oranges......so when I return to the easel I will be inspired by the colors I am seeing first-hand. The air is crisp and breezy, and right now I am smelling the pine needles that have fallen from the evergreens. Thanks for viewing my blog, Kay
