Horizon Series: Abstract 20

This painting is SOLD!
Layers and layers of color cover this canvas. It is a 18" x 18" gallery wrap canvas. The painting began as an urban landscape setting...and evolved into this contemporary oil abstract. This abstract paintng has all the elements of form, color and line to create this composition. Abstract art, or nonobjective art, is art that is not an accurate representation of a form or object. The subject matter can be simplified or exaggerated....but the representation is abstract, not realistic or representational. Now that you have had a little lesson on the subject of abstract art I hope that you enjoy viewing this painting and any of my other works. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing an original work of art.

Blue Bird

Up close....very wet!

On the easel at the studio...

Blue bird is a little 6" x 8" cotton panel painting that I did in the studio yesterday. We have been watching this little fellow in our backyard for a couple of weeks. He was learning to fly, and his mother and father would be watching him as he was nestled in our bushes. If you are interested in purchasing this painting or any others, please contact me.

Horizon Series: Acrylic 1 & 2

Today's posting are two 12" x 12" masonite panels, and a part of my Horizon Series. Acrylic paints were used with the palette knife. I paint in oils all the time, so I felt like I was experimenting with the acrylic paints since it had been years....like thirty some years since I had painted with acrylics. The paint dried so fast, and I had forgotten that acrylics just don't have the mixing characteristics that oils do. I couldn't get back to my oils fast enough...I like the rich look of oils, although these abstract were dry immediately. These pieces would be handsome framed in a simple, contemporary frame. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of my art.

Horizon Series: Big Red

Big Red is an abstract that is very intense. The reds are very extreme and energetic on the canvas. As you all know, red is the color of love and stimulates a faster heartbeat. Layers of many different reds are applied with the brush and palette knife. This 12" x 24" gallery wrap canvas would make a wonderful accent piece in a room. If you have a bare or boring wall space, this canvas could add some pazzaz to it!

Floral

Floral is a loose painting on a 16" x 20" canvas. It has a "shabby chic" look and feel to it, and can stand alone with out a frame. A frame would dress it up. I normally do not paint with these muted colors. The washed out green and beige are not my favorite colors, but I feel like I need to try something different once in a while. Anyone who paints with me knows that I have issues with the color green, and once I get green on my brush it is in everything. I do think that I have the green under control in this painting. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting or any other works of art that I have created.

Floral

This 16" x 20" canvas has lots of things going on...fruit, flowers, plates, and vases. It is loaded with color and movement. It is very painterly, and it was one of my "quick" paintings that I did not labor over. Once the paint was on the canvas, I left it. I did not go back and fuss over anything. I need to see what it looks like with a frame. I hope that you enjoy it....

Macomb Maidrite

This is what is on my easel at the studio. I started it yesterday, and I might add a Dairy Queen and some old pick-up trucks. The photograph taken a month ago---- has a Walgreen Drug Store in it, but I want to give this painting a 50's feel, so I will not keep the Walgreens in it. The Maidrite is in bad shape, and will probably be torn down. I am at the point in this painting that I could put anything in...bikes, cars, street signs, people, billboards.......Any suggestions?
