Girl in Boat

Girl in Boat is the current Different Strokes From Different Folks Challenge. It is on a 8" x 10" cotton panel, using oils. To view all of the artist's work who participated in this past art challenge, go to: http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/. I have started two commission pieces at the studio, and need to work on those today. I hope it isn't as hot in Dallas as it was yesterday...it's going to be a long summer. Stay cool, and thanks for looking at my blog!

On the easel...

On the easel...I need to look at it and let it rest a day or two before I put the finishing touches on.

I got away to the studio for a short time yesterday, and was working on the Different Strokes From Different Folks Challenge. I am not finished, and might change the sky. I am not sure that I like the hazy, soft blue/lavender color. Anyway, I doubt that I can get to the studio today since it is the 4th. Will attend our neighborhood parade and then to a cookout. I hope you enjoy your 4th of July and stay cool!!!!

Eat Your Veggies

Eat Your Veggies

Week 37 & 38 of the Different Strokes from Different Folks Challenge was a photograph of a platter of summer vegetables. I painted my interpretation of the photograph using oil paints on a 6” x 8” cotton panel…title: Eat Your Veggies. I am posting the painting that I painted yesterday. It is very wet---lots of luscious oils layered on with brushes. It’s good to have a deadline on a project like this challenge…it pushes me a little bit to finish up a painting to submit. I never seem to have a problem starting a painting, but sometimes I am not motivated to work through a painting and complete it. I had a good time painting this challenge, and it is so much fun looking at the dozens of artists who have posted their works of art on the Different Strokes blog. Just like we are all different, so is our artwork. We all see things differently, and paint them differently. A work of art can be very simple or complicated and may be interpreted in different ways by different people. I hope that you enjoy this painting…it is for sale if you would like to hang this painting in your home. Feel free contact me:

Landscape Challenge

Landscape Challenge was finished yesterday. It was my interpretation of a black and white photograph posted on Different Strokes for Different Folks. I painted a 24 " x 24" gallery wrap canvas, laying in colors that I visualized. It was a fun painting to do.

Sushi Anyone?

This is the second Different Stroke From Different Folks Challenge that I have painted. The photograph of sushi was posted two weeks ago. If you go to http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/ you can see all the entries from artists who participated. I like looking at the different approaches taken on this challenge. I wanted to go with very colorful palette. This painting is on a 6" x 8" panel.

Wigs

SOLD
Karin Jurick has a blog, Different Strokes From Different Folks. Every two weeks she posts a photograph, and artists are invited to paint or draw interpretations of that photograph. I think that there were about 75 artists who participated in this challenge. This past week it was a photograph of sushi...I loved painting that one. (not the case with this challenge!!!) A couple of fellow studio partners painted this also, and we agreed that it was a challenge as we grumbled and painted. My painting ended up with some angles, and abstract. Please go to Karin's blog: http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com/ to view all the paintings submitted.
