My husband, John loves cactus and is very good at growing them.  I caught a photograph of a blooming prickly pear in our front yard earlier this year.  I don't have a green thumb, but I do like painting cactus, especially those with beautiful, vibrant blooms and lots of texture!  This painting is drying in the studio.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog!  KMW

All framed up and hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas, "Cactus Patch" is a handsome painting.  The photograph I used (thanks to one of my studio mates) was the front yard of an old house in Austin, Texas.  I purposefully left out the house so that I could concentrate of the blooms on the massive prickly pear.  Contact the gallery for more info!  Thanks for looking, Kay.

Here's the companion painting to Prickly Pear I.  Cactus is a new subject matter for me...and I love the way the grow, the layers of shapes, the shadows and of course those wicked needles.
