Perfect Day

Perfect Day
Sold
8" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life Painting
This is one of favorite still life paintings...I was painting the floral arrangement on an old wicker table.  The short and squatty jar was a great transparent blue color.  Once again, I used Chris Heroy's fresh cut roses.  They were absolutely beautiful.  The oils on this panel will take months to dry....I went heavy on the oils.  Thanks for looking...Kay

Chihuly comes to to Dallas!

Last week I was asked to help install the Chihuly Exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum.  The Chihuly staff is in Dallas for two weeks.  The photographs below are from day three.  My contribution was cutting open boxes and laying out glass for the installation.  It was amazing to see the team work together and the steps envolved.  It was a beautiful day.....here you see Paul with some major equipment.
This was just one of about 100 boxes with carefully packed glass.  I did not see one crack, chip or break while unpacking.  These crews are very organized and methodical.
In the photograph below, you can see Raven in his waders.  He was enjoying the wonderful Texas weather while installing the blue glass down in the water.
Paul in the forklift....random placement of the glass tubes was amazing to watch.
The installation is almost complete...I can't wait to return to the Dallas Arboretum to see the colorful sculptures in the gardens.
Thanks for viewing this blog....more painting tomorrow.  Kay
