Flutter by Kay Wyne

Flutter
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This contemporary palette knife painting was inspired by a red dragonfly photo taken by Mark Malone last summer.  I believe he had the dragonflies in his garden.

I liked the clean, crisp colors.....no mud.  Cad orange, cad green, magenta, sky blue, and white were all out on my palette for this painting.  I was very careful not mix colors too much because you really can't recover for muddy colors once they are on the canvas.  A little bit abstract with the hard edges and large shapes. Contemporary, abstract, colorful and textural are characteristics of this painting.

Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  No frame required with the gallery wrap canvas....ready to hang!  Thanks, Kay

Dragonfly Bubble

Dragonfly Bubble
22" x 28" Mixed Media on Linen Gallery Wrap
Contemporary Abstract Dragonfly
Mixed media is so much fun to work in...the possibilities are endless.  I started with a linen gallery wrap  surface with clear gesso, knowing that I wanted the natural linen to show through.  I used ink, oil colors, and oil sticks to create this abstract.  The dragonfly has a stained glass appearance and is colorful with transparent oils.  This funky dragonfly is available for sale.  Please contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com for more information on this painting.  It does not need a frame.  Thanks for viewing.  Kay

Golden Dragonfly

Golden Dragonfly
36" x 18" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
This contemporary abstract is finally finished. I had started it about six months ago and it was one of those paintings that I did not feel like it was complete. I kept adding lines, shapes and color. The wings of the dragonfly disappeared into hard edges and angles. I can now say that Golden Dragonfly is ready to find a new home....contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com if you are interested in purchasing this original oil painting.

Dragonfly Dreaming II - SOLD!

Dragonfly Dreaming II - SOLD!
36" x 36" Original Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting sold yesterday, and I am varnishing today and getting ready to ship to the east coast. We have had some interesting conversations about this painting at the studio....there are fish floating around on this canvas, and several other images that appear when the imagination allows you. I am thrilled that this contemporary abstract is going to a new home! Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

Fly Away Dragon Fly

Fly Away Dragon Fly
48" x 48"
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting has gone through many changes....it is a very large canvas....four feet by four feet. It takes alot of paint to cover it. At one point (several months ago) I thought it was finshed, and was ready to hang. After viewing it for months, I decided that it wasn't finished, and added the dragon fly. There are layers of color, layers of lines, and layers of shapes in this painting. I used a palette knife, wide brush strokes and a oil pastel stick. If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. This painting will be hanging at the Texas Discovery Gardens, located in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas next month. Thanks for viewing this blog!
