Abundance

Abundance
16" x 20" Oil on Linen
Day #17 Strada Easel Challenge
Loose brushstrokes, thick oils, harmonious colors - it all fell together at my easel for the daily paint challenge of painting from life.  A small arrangement of alstroemeria was my subject matter for this painting.  I painted this one alla prima in about 4 hours in the studio.  It was fun and exciting to paint this bunch of petals.  Thanks for looking at my blog!  Kay

Posies For You

Posies For You
8" x 6" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life - Alla Prima
This small still life was painted alla prima (painted in one setting, start to finish).  I used one brush, lots of oils and painted each stroke deliberately, and did not go back into the canvas and get fussy.  Once this dries, I will frame it up and it will be ready for a new home!  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Just For You

Just For You
6" x 6" Oil on Linen Panel
Alla Prima
Contemporary Still Life
I have been on a floral still life kick lately in the studio.  Here's yesterday's painting, and it is super wet.  I piled on the oils, pushing and pulling the thick paint over the smooth linen surface.  I have a beautiful frame for this one...contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Luscious

Luscious
Alla Prima
10" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life
I was working on a large painting, needing to meet a deadline in the studio yesterday.  I was not happy with the progress, and felt the need to start a new painting.  It was easier for me to do that than to struggle with the deadline.  Switching gears, I pulled out a #14 Bright and painted away.  This one was painted in one session, swiftly without hesitation.  This painting is drying in the studio.  I have the perfect frame for it!  Contact Kay for more information.  Thanks, KMW

Lovely and Alive

Lovely and Alive
8" x 8" Oil on Cotton RayMar Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
I worked on several painting in the studio yesterday, and after I got bored with them, I pulled out a new panel and painted away.  Using a new #8 Bright Brush and all the left-over paint on my palette, I started a floral still life. The oils were mixed, and I was able to pull this one off alla prima.  My first attempt was spontaneous and lively.  I did not go back into the paint once I laid it on the canvas...this painting is very wet, and once it dries I can't wait to put a frame on it.  Thanks for looking at my blog...contact Kay for more info on my art.  Kay
