Jump-Start by Kay Wyne

Jump-Start
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
I was in a blue mood....I pulled out my blues in tubes and oil sticks and made a sample color chart.  Then I picked the blues I thought would be great on this canvas, and mixed a lot of them.  Here is pic of the blue hues that I had at the studio....probably more than I really need.  But after years of painting, I have collected some great blues.  Probably my top three colors are:
  • 1  Richeson Ice Blue
  • 2  Classic Cobalt
  • 3  Charvin Linen Flower

More blue paintings to come...Thanks for looking at Jump-Start!  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing information.  Have an artful day...Kay

Horizon Series: Abstract 7

This painting has changed dramatically since I started painting on the canvas. I had originally thought the 18" x 18" gallery wrap canvas was great for a longhorn. I was struggling with it, after I painted on it for several days. I did have a good start, but composition did not work for me. Instead of throwing the canvas out, I started over. With lots of thick paint. I like the intense color on the very dark blue/black background. I like the way the colors pop out and have some presence in this painting. The horizon line pulls the eye up to the focal point. I hope you enjoy this abstract painting...I certainly enjoyed painting it after the longhorn went away.
