30" x 30" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas

This is a piece that I worked on for a long time, and had entered it in a juried exhibit.  This is a very painterly piece, with wide brushstrokes and bold color.  I loved the pose of this horse, and my inspiration was a photograph of my nephew riding during a riding competition in Illinois.  I purposely left the saddle and rider out of the painting, wanting to focus on the curves and the profile of the horse.  I used oil sticks to pull the painting together and give it a contemporary look.  I know I changed the background several times.  Thanks for looking at this blog....and Merry Christmas to you and yours.  Kay at kay@kwyne.com.
