Celebration

Celebration is a piece that I am dedicating to my daughter, Lindsay. I may not be finished with the painting, but she is finished with her collegiate career and graduating on Saturday. I see lots of colorful confetti flying around in this painting, and so I thought that it would be appropriate to paint this one for her. Just like I struggle in my paintings, Lindsay has struggled and been challenged through out her Interior Design studies at the University of Arkansas. The family will go and celebrate with her as she graduates. We are so proud of her! It's just another milestone!
This painting is rather large...it is on a gallery wrap canvas, and measures 36" x 36". I like the colors and the movement in the painting, but will probably add some dark accents to make it more dramatic. I have used alot of paint on this one. Lots of layers of paint with the palette knife. It has been in the works for about a month.
I will be away from the computer for a while, as we will be traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas with son, Blake and dog, Penny Lane. Then after graduation, John, Lindsay, Wes and I are taking a trip up north to Illinois to visit family. I am looking forward to seeing the family and possibly eating some fresh morel mushrooms. Then on the last leg of the trip, we will be moving Lindsay back to Dallas. I dread the move. (Not her moving to Dallas, but the actual move and U-Haul thing.) But, I hope to get alot of pictures in the next week on our trip...lots of inspiration for my studio paintings. I hope to get back into the studio today since I will be away from the easel for a while.

  1. Oh I love it! Lindsay shared your blog with me today and this is the entry I got to read. Your daughter is a real jewel and I have appreciated her so much this semester helping me with Baby Tyler. God certainly crossed our paths for a reason and I feel very blessed. She will be missed here in Fayetteville! Congratulations Lindsay! - Sarah
