This is a contemporary abstract painted with my palette knife....aspen trees. It is oil on 18" x 18" gallery wrap canvas. I painted this several weeks ago, and it is now signed and drying. Yesterday was not a good day in the studio. Everything that I attempted to paint turned out to be the wrong color, the wrong image, and I struggled. I have not had a day like yesterday in a long time.....The canvases that I worked on were not wipers....they are going to the garbage can. My brushes and knives were not friendly, and after a good five hour try, I left my easel. I can only hope that something good comes out of the studio tomorrow. I don't know why we have those days, and you never know when they are going to hit you. I was hit very hard......I hope to post a new painting tomorrow. Stay cool, Kay
This painting is drying, and just came off my easel. It is a 14" x 18" oil on gallery wrap canvas. I haven't had a chance to put a name on it...any suggestions are welcome. Stay cool, and thanks for looking at this blog. Kay at 214-532-0325 or email@example.com
This painting has a new home...in Waco, Texas. I had been asked to paint a nest painting with five eggs for a collector. It was a real joy to paint this painting for her family's new home. I told the new owner that I had not named the painting, so Nest of Five is temporary, until the right title hits me. This is a 14" x 18" gallery wrap canvas, which can be framed at a later date. It will take months for the oils to cure, but in the mean time, this nest will be hanging on new walls! Thanks so much for looking at my art and this blog. Kay
This contemporary abstract started with a base coat of warm gray, then some paints scraped on with the palette knife. One I got some colors on the canvas, I started seeing shapes and eventually a butterfly tumbled out onto the canvas. I used my oil paints and oil sticks on this painting. Thanks for viewing, stay cool. Kay at 214-532-0325 or firstname.lastname@example.org
This contemporary abstract painting sold Adieb Khadoure Fine Art in Santa Fe yesterday! The annual Indian Market is happening, and Santa Fe is full of collectors, artists and vacationers. I wish that I was there, escaping the Texas heat and soaking up the New Mexico art galleries and landscape. I hope to be finishing up a commission today, and starting some new paintings. Thanks for viewing! Kay
This painting sold over the weekend to a collector in Utah atAdieb Khadoure Fine Artin Santa Fe. I spoke with the new owner of this contemporary abstract, and he was very excited about his purchase. Thanks for viewing this blog, and stay cool. Kay
This little painting was inspired by three balls that I pulled out of the arrangement on the coffee in the den. It is a companion piece to the painting I posted yesterday. They are both ready to have new homes. Please contact me if you are interested. Thanks for looking at this blog. Stay cool....Kay 214-532-0325 or email@example.com
This is a 6" x 8" Raymar panel with my oils. I liked the placement of the objects; a mallet, a post and a ball...all out of an old and worn croquet set that we have in the garage. We have some interesting and rather old croquet balls...most of them do no belong in a set, but ones that have been collected over the years. I have more croquet balls than mallets, so I display all the balls in a big bowl on a coffee table in the den. More croquet balls to come tomorrow....If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. $100, unframed. Thanks, Kay
This painting will be an entry for the Artists of Texas Annual Show at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas to be held in November and December. The colors are crisp and clear, just like you would see on a brisk fall day. I used the brush and palette knife on this painting...there is plenty of texture. I hope to frame this painting in a black floater frame. Thanks for viewing this blog, Kay
Here is a Birthday Cupcake for son Blake, who is celebrating his 28th birthday today. Happy Birthday, Blaker. This little cupcake painting is on a 4" x 4" gallery wrap canvas. Ready to give as a small birthday gift. Please contact me if you are interested in this painting.
Blake and Penny Lane on White Rock Lake
Also a big birthday hug for Stacy who is celebrating somewhere in Hawaii.
It is another hot day in Dallas....we are breaking records with the heat.
8" x 16" Oil on Cotton Panel Palette Knife Painting This palette knife painting is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in a beautful gold frame. I got the palette knife out and created this empty nest----off center on the canvas. I like the limited colors in this painting...blue, my favorite color and some neutrals...raw sienna and burnt umber along with white and greys. Thanks for viewing this blog, Kay
This contemporary aspen painting is getting ready to be hung in a show next week. It is a 30" x 30" gallery wrap canvas. I need to name it and inventory it before it leaves the studio today. It is another hot one in Dallas, and I will be dodging the heat by staying inside painting! Thanks for viewing this blog. Kay
This painting is finished! The varnish is drying and a handsome dark frame will be on it tomorrow. This colorful, contemporary equine painting is for sale. $430 unframed, $500 framed. Thanks for viewing this blog....and stay cool. Kay
I was revisiting this painting...This is one of my favorites because of the colors, the quick brushstrokes and the subject matter. Today was a hot one, especially with the air conditioning out in the house. Day 33 of consecutive temperatures over 100 degrees. We are all trying to escape the heat......stay cool. Thanks for viewing. Kay
