These days I am into abstracts, starting with what I call a roadmap.  I draw, paint and then scrape away the oils, and do all again.  I mixed my colors and mixed more colors, and my piles of oil overlapped...so that they are harmonious. Just sold at Dutch Art Gallery this week!  Here's another Seabrook Island painting that ended up being a palette knife painting.  I got to the beach and realized that I did not have any brushes or medium.  So by default, this seascape is a palette knife painting.  Here's what my set-up was like, with high tide approaching.

Oil on top of the silver leaf is not easy to apply, and it takes time as layers and layers work best.  Once the oil in sitting on top of the silver leaf, it needs to set-up before the next layer is applied.  I like the look of the leafing and the imperfections that the sheets of silver leaf have.You can see the black base coat of paint peeking through in some areas.  I varnished this piece, it is drying in the studio.  Please contact Kay with any comments or questions.  Framing is optional...can be hung as is.  This piece is available for purchase.  Thanks, KMW

I love painting on large square canvases.  Extravagant Ways is a mixed media piece because I used charcoal, oils, and oil bars.  Using the willow charcoal stick, I scraped into the layered oil when it was wet.  I enjoyed experimenting with different color combos as I worked my way through the painting.  The asymmetrical design and irregular shapes gives the imagination a chance to go to work.  Contact Kay for more info on this original painting.  Thanks for looking!  KMW
