On my easel....

I have two large roosters on my easel...and they are very wet with lots of oils!
Right now his is a one-eyed rooster....somehow his left eye disappeared.
This rooster is almost finished. He is on a heavy duty gallery wrap canvas. I wanted him to be colorful...so I got carried away with his feathers. And his beak. I hope to put some final feathers on this guy today and let it dry.
Thanks for viewing this blog and my art...have an artful day!

Infusion

Infusion
SOLD
48" x 72"
This contemporary abstract traveled from Dallas to Santa Fe last week. Adieb Khadoure Fine Art sold Infusion to a collector from Florida, so it will be traveling again....I am thrilled that this piece has a new home. This color palette is a departure from what I usually use. As with many of my abstracts I started with a horizon line, used lots of paint, texture and movement. Thanks for viewing this blog...I will be painting plein air this morning with a small group of artists in downtown Dallas, then going to the studio to work on some commissions. Have a great day!

Off the easel....

This palette knife painting is straight off the easel. It is very wet, so I brought it home from the studio and it is now hanging in our den. It is colorful, full of texture and looks great above our leather sofa....the wall it is hanging on is white, with a leather sofa below. I like the injection of color on that wall...gives the room life. I have not named this piece yet. I have another aspen painting sitting in front of a fan drying at the studio. Thanks for viewing this blog, and have an artful day.

Holy Cow!

This little study is in my Moleskine...a fun little project where a group of artists exchange Moleskine books and we paint in each other's books. This is my first painting in my book...and I picked the theme, Holy Cow! This bovine beauty was fun to paint, although I love painting BIG on BIG canvases. I painted on a very large canvas yesterday at the studio....I hope to be able to post it soon. Thanks for viewing my blog.

Western Art Collector, April Issue

The April issue of Western Art Collector is out! There is an article on the state of art in Texas, and the Artists of Texas are featured. As you can see, one of my aspen paintings, "Discover Aspens" is shown in this ad. It is a 36" x 36" Gallery Wrap Canvas palette knife painting in oils. This painting was sold last week at The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Pick up your copy if you don't subscribe to Western Art Collector. Thanks so much for viewing this blog.

Yarn Abstract

Yarn Abstract
I was looking at my file of photographs, and came across this painting. This painting has hung in daughter Lindsay's apartment...she is attached to this one. It is one of my most colorful pieces, and I think I will paint something along this line on a LARGE canvas. Maybe 42" x 42" or larger. I had a good day yesterday with a Plein Air group at the Farmers Market, and then painted at the studio. I have two large roosters going, finished a palette knife aspen painting, and I am getting ready to start some mixed media pieces. Have an artful day, and thanks for viewing my blog!

Wandering

Wandering
36" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Palette Knife Painting
Wandering is signed and ready to hang...although it is still wet in places. The paint will take a while to set since the palette knife was used, and layers of thick oils are on the canvas. As I was painting, I imaged walking thorough the thick forest of aspens with the colorful sky and water in the the background...I am getting back in the swing of things after being away from my easel for a while. I have six or seven paintings that I worked on yesterday. I hope to post something new tomorrow. Thanks for viewing my art!

on my easel....

I am back, after two weeks of being away from painting. It is hard getting back into the swing of things. I hope to have something more than this to post after today at the studio. Some days the paint flies, and other days it doesn't. I have several commissions to work on, and a few paintings that I am painting for myself. So I am wishing you and especially myself to have an artful day!!!

Only The Lonely

Only The Lonely
This palette knife painting was fun for me to paint....I like the way it is off-center on the canvas. This painting is handsome in a gold frame. Thanks for looking at my blog and my art....
