Moonglow

Moonglow
16" x 16" Oil and Silver Leaf on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
Freeflowing stems and petals on this canvas started out with me experimenting with a new color.  Moonglow by Daniel Smith is the name of it, and I love the deep deep eggplant color, especially with the silver leaf background.  This happy painting is drying in the studio, and I hope to put a floater frame on it soon.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  KMW

Remember Me

Remember Me
48" x 60" x 2" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
This painting is drying in the studio.
Thank you to my local florist, Renarldo at Lake Highlands Flowers for creating such a stunning arrangement.  I asked him to give me some variety, color, texture, and something sophisticated...and he delivered!

As I started to paint on this big canvas, I realized that I could not paint fast enough...so I took some pictures to work off of once the petals had dried up.  It was a fun time in the studio, with a few challenges along the way.  I am pretty sure that this is finished...although I can make any adjustments as I spend some time with the canvas in the studio.

Thanks for looking at my blog...Have an artful day!  Kay

Turning Heads

Turning Heads
20" x 16" Oil on RayMar Panel
Contemporary Floral
I was in the studio looking for something to paint, as I didn't have any fresh flowers.  I came across a photo that studio mate Selena had passed along to me.  It was a great photo of a sunflower garden.  So that's how this one started, and ended up with this title when studio mate Sharon told me it the blooms in the foreground look like they are turning their heads.  I agreed, and then named this one "Turning Heads".  Sunflowers are so interesting, irregular and exciting to paint.  This painting is available for purchase, and it is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Contact Kay with any comments or questions.  KMW

Lots of painting, scraping, painting and knife work went into this contemporary still life painting.  Layers of oil were applied with a brush, followed by a palette knife scraping and cutting into the paint.  This floral is available and would brighten up any wall!  Contact Kay Wyne for more information on this original oil.  Thanks, KMW

Cactus Patch

Cactus Patch
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral
All framed up and hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas, "Cactus Patch" is a handsome painting.  The photograph I used (thanks to one of my studio mates) was the front yard of an old house in Austin, Texas.  I purposefully left out the house so that I could concentrate of the blooms on the massive prickly pear.  Contact the gallery for more info!  Thanks for looking, Kay.
