The Point by Kay Wyne

The Point
32" x 32" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This painting is sold, but it is still one of my favorites.  I was looking for an image of one of my paintings, and ran across this one.  I liked painting because I was painting "the point" in Northern Michigan...one of our family favorites.  I was able to work on a painting in the studio today, so hope to complete it in a few more sessions.  Thanks for looking at this blog....have an artful day. Persuasion by Kay Wyne

Persuasion II
24" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Here are the two canvases together:
Persuasion I & Persuasion II
Diptych 48" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Using a palette knife to apply the layers of oil paints, this abstract was created with color and movement in mind.  The shapes of color overlap each other, and the oils blended into each other.  Greys, violets, magenta, pinks, corals, greens, and tangerine are the colors in this contemporary abstract.  The colors float across the canvas.  The paintings can be hung separately, or as a diptych.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing information.  Thanks, KMW

Finished, but Untitled

Untitled
24" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting

Untitled....because it hasn't hit me yet as to what to name this painting.  I have been thinking about it, but for now it is Untitled.  I started this painting back in June, then left for Michigan for three weeks.  When I returned I had forgotten how far I had painted, and that I really didn't have far to go to finish.  I was able to work on it and put the finishing touches on it last week.

This canvas is a new size for me...I placed two of these vertically on my easel and painted abstracts.  The second one will be posted tomorrow, and you will see that each canvas can stand alone, or be shown together.  Currently, they are drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my blog.....Kay

Carefree by Kay Wyne

Carefree
40" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Painting
Carefree was painted in the studio with a palette knife, wide flat brush, oil paints and oil sticks.  I started with a plan, and threw it out the window once I mixed my colors and started painting.  The shapes and lines move across the canvas with variation, looseness and freedom.  Here is a close-up of the painting, and you can see the palette knife work gives the paint texture and interest.
This painting is drying in the studio.  If you have any comments or questions...contact ME.  Thanks for looking at this blog.....Kay

Double Trouble by Kay Wyne

Double Trouble
NFS
40" x 30"  Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
(Diptych size:  40" x 60")
I have finished Double Trouble!  This contemporary abstract was created to hang as one large piece, measuring 40" x 60", plus any wall space that might be in-between the two canvases.  With this commission, I concentrated on the color palette, and once I established my colors, put some shapes and movement on the canvas.  I used a large palette knife to apply the layers of oil colors.  The soft colors over-lap and blend into each other.  There is some texture on the surface, and you can see some choppy knife marks in the paint.  I did use impasto to get some body into the oil paints.  This painting is drying...and ready to hang!  Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted.  Have a creative day.  Kay

I can honestly say that after painting this contemporary still life that I have a new appreciation for the beauty of peonies.  I don't know that I had given peonies much attention or thought until I tackled them in this set-up.  The shapes and colors are so interesting.  This floral painting is in a beautiful gold frame, ready to hang.  If you are interested in this painting, please contact Kay for more information.  Thank you for viewing my art.  Kay

End of Season by Kay Wyne

End of Season
16" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life Painting
Thanks to Chris Heroy for letting me have some of her beautiful roses from her cottage garden.  OMG, they were peaking about a week ago, and now petals are falling and they are starting to droop.  I wanted to capture the color and beauty of them before they were all gone.  I had to paint quickly because the wind was knocking the petals off.  This painting is currently hanging at Stonehenge Gardens and Gifts.  Thanks for looking at my art.....Kay

Ready to frame or simply stand on an easel.
Spending the Fourth of July Up North is so much fun.  The colors in the cottage flower box are in peak season.  I was able to paint en plain air, enjoying the fresh flowers and crisp clean air.  The box was over-flowing with cascading plants.  Thanks for looking at this blog...more paintings from Up North to come! First Bouquet by Kay Wyne - Sold

First Bouquet
Sold
16" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
This floral still life was inspired by the beautiful flowers from Denise Klingbeil's cottage garden in Northern Michigan.  The colors in the arrangement are fresh and vibrant.  Painting fresh flowers on a cottage porch is absolutely the best experience!  Here is a pic of the arrangement, although they were much prettier in person.
More paintings from Up North to come...Thanks for looking at this my blog and the art posted here.  Kay

Oh Happy Day! by Kay Wyne

Oh Happy Day!
18" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life Painting
This painting is one of my favorites, because I was so happy when I painted it, and it just flowed onto the canvas.  It was the day after our kiddos told us they were expecting...our first grandchild.  I mixed piles of greys, greens, lavenders and whites before I started painting.  Then I stood in front of the canvas with my palette knife and started pushing and pulling the paint.  This painting is available through Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.  Thanks for looking at this blog. Kay
