This is one of my son's favorite paintings...so I gifted it to him for Christmas. I think that this magpie has spunk and character. Mixing my cool and warm greys was experimental and a good lesson on values. The brush strokes are loose and deliberate giving this magpie a painterly look. I was thrilled that Blake was very fond of this painting, as I will be able to see it knowing where it lives.
Our Christmas was very special with our youngest grandson coming home from the hospital on Christmas Eve. Peter Thomas Henry is our Christmas miracle!
It's hard to get a photo of these busy little guys, as Oliver and Charlie are on the move most of the time. I have had lots of family time lately, and very little studio time---I have a new series of paintings that I can't wait to work on! Thanks for looking at this blog...Kay Wyne
This still life was painted with a limited color palette and a palette knife. It's one of those canvases that was so much fun on such a happy day. Everything worked for me on the easel. This painting is hanging in my kitchen, and it makes me smile every day! Thanks, Kay Wyne
If you like bold and vibrant colors, this painting will get your attention. "Wildflowers Galore" is a palette knife painting with lots of texture. The pops of color give this painting energy and life. Contact Kay for more information on this contemporary landscape. Thanks, KMW
Expressive Abstract 52" x 52" Oil on Canvas Untitled Contemporary abstract full of shapes, colors and lines. This canvas can be sized down to fit any space --- it is 52" square. It was painted on a flat (unstretched) piece of gessoed canvas. Contact Kay Wyne for more info on this painting. Thanks, KMW
36" x 48" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Landscape/Palette Knife Painting
White Rock Lake is the setting for this painting. Located just minutes from our house, I am very familiar with this scene. I have gone to the lake to paint the skyline numerous times, but with a canvas 36" x 48", this was a studio painting. The client wanted the Dallas skyline and the lake on the canvas with palette knife work and an impressionistic feel to the painting. I am excited that the new client is having this painting framed, and will be hung in it's new home very soon. Contact Kay Wyne for any comments or questions concerning "Dallas In The Distance". KMW
This small painting is simple and colorful. My favorite part of the painting is the refection of the boat in the water. The wide brushstrokes were laid in, and then I left it, moved on to another part of the painting. This painting is available. Contact Kay Wyne for more information. Thanks, KMW
This abstract landscape is framed in a contemporary silver/black floater frame, ready for a new home. If you look closely, you can see the texture and palette knife marks on the surface of the canvas panel. When you stand back from the painting, sometime an image of a road or path takes the eye to the horizon, and with some imagination some shapes will appear. Contact Kay Wyne for more information. Thanks, KMW
Diptych - Each canvas is 48" x 24" --- Total size: 48" x 48"
These two canvases hang together to make a neat size, 48" x 48", or each canvas can stand alone. The greys, blues and violets move around the canvas, intertwining with the corals, greens and turquoises. I used a wide brush and palette knife on this diptych. Contact Kay Wyne for more information on this contemporary abstract or any of my art. Thanks, KMW
Using my palette knife to push, pull and blend the paints on this canvas, "Grey Skies" has very soft and subtle colors. It just sold to a local collector and I believe it is being placed in a new contemporary home setting. It is getting a new custom frame to dress it up, and then it will be placed in it's new home. I hope to be in the studio today working on a new series of paintings. Thanks for looking at this blog....contact Kay Wyne for more information on my art. KMW
This colorful landscape has a new home in Dallas! I am thrilled that a Dallas collector has purchased "Anyway The Wind Blows". I favor a square format, and 36" x 36" is a great size to use when painting landscapes. Thanks for looking at this blog....Contact Kay Wyne for more information on my contemporary landscapes. KMW
I am so happy that "Far Away" has a new home to a collector in Dallas. When I delivered the painting, I was given the opportunity to see where this painting will hang...and it looked great! I am working on a new series in the studio, and very excited about that. Thanks for looking at this blog...have a great day. Kay Wyne
