Landscape Palette Knife Painting by Kay Wyne

This is a contemporary landscape painting that is back in the studio drying. I hate to leave the wonderful climate in New Mexico, although I am excited to get back to Dallas to paint the New Mexico sites that John and I have enjoyed this past week. Santa Fe is one of my favorite places to visit, and here are a few pics from our trip. I think we have visited almost every gallery in Santa Fe, attended Spanish Market, Ghost Ranch, Madrid, and of course the High Road to Taos.
Ghost Ranch...an amazing place. I want to return and paint en plein air.
Beautiful colors of Ghost Ranch...lots of color and inspiration.
The skull that hangs at Ghost Ranch. I thought Ghost Ranch was an amazing place. John and I roamed the ranch, at lunch out on the veranda at the club house. There were plenty of activities going on. Thanks for viewing....Kay

Sunflowers.......

Sunflower
Contemporary Floral Oil Painting
This is my painting that I worked on during the Nancy Medina Workshop last week. It is still very wet, as I used very little medium and lots of oils. Nobody paints sunflowers like Nancy....she is a very talented artist. It was a good workshop and I loved her demonstration. I learned so much about floral painting...so maybe I will tackle some new florals in the near future. Thanks for viewing. If you are interested in this painting, it is a 16" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel. Because I painted it in a workshop, I am selling for $100. Contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com if you are interested in purchasing. KMW

Sunflowers.......

Nancy Medina Workshop at Dutch Art Gallery
Here's a pic of the group from yesterday....we all had a great time and learned alot about Nancy's painting techniques. Nancy is known for her dynamic florals in oils. The demo very good, then we did a quick painting study on sunflowers. It is always good to be exposed to other artist's methods, techniques and supplies. It is a never ending learning process. Abstract - Untitled-Sold

This contemporary abstract was sold at a charity event in Dallas benefiting the Turtle Creek Chorale. I was revisiting some of my paintings, and saw this palette knife painting. I believe it was a 40" x 40" oil on gallery wrap canvas. I hope to start a new abstract today, as I had varnished five new paintings at the studio yesterday. The turkey painting is coming along, and I am getting ready to start a new series. Thanks for viewing my blog....Kay

Turkey on my easel....

Turkey. Unfinished. This oil painting has been on my easel for several weeks. I have painted many chickens and roosters, and a turkey was a new challenge. One of my studio partners had some pictures that I borrowed, and I thought this guy was pretty interesting. I have jazzed up the colors. I need to work on his chest and start layering feathers in with the palette knife. The studio is filled with animals these days...more contemporary cows on my easel, and Sharon is painting bears, buffalo, wolves, and dogs non-stop. Thanks for looking at this blog. Have a great day....Kay
