My Cowboy Model

Cowboy Up
Contemporary Oil Painting
24" x 24" on Gallery Wrap Canvas
NFS
Last weekend I was able to give my nephew, Casey Settles a painting that I had painted in March. He was at an Equestrian Competition and I took some reference photos of him getting dressed for his event. "Cowboy Up" was inspired by a moment that I caught on my camera...putting on his chaps. When Casey saw the painting in person, he loved it! That was a real joy for for me to see his reaction and I was thrilled to let him have the painting. Giving a painting that I created gives me as much joy as actually painting. I hope to start a new painting today at the studio, and have my canvas all ready. Thanks so much for viewing and have an artful day!

Blue Sky Aspens

Blue Sky Aspens
10" x 20" Oil on Canvas
Palette Knife Painting
The paint was applied with a palette knife on this canvas, giving the surface alot of texture.
This is one of those contemporary oil paintings that I feel like I can truely say I am a colorist.
I would say that I gave this painting color importance, achieving a special effect with color.
Lots of color, many shades. It will take a long time to dry. I plan to deliver this painting to The Dutch Art Gallery....Pam at Dutch Art has a gold frame waiting for this canvas. I can't wait to see it all framed up and hanging. Thanks for viewing this blog, and have an artful day! Please contact me if you are interested in this painting or any of my other pieces.

Mother of the Bride has been busy! Lindsay Wyne and Wes Henry were married on Saturday, so I am posting a few pics. This is the couple's first dance.
Lindsay and big brother Blake. They had so much fun!
Leaving the reception.

Lindsay and Father of the Bride, John Wyne.
It was a Kodak moment!!!

This was Lindsay's big day...she was beautiful!!! Before the ceremony...she was pretty calm and happy. All of her bridesmaids and house party took very good care of her. Lindsay was surrounded by great friends through out the weekend.

Surprise!

Look what John, Sharon and I did today....we transported this very wet canvas to Wes' apartment, let ourselves in and hung "Starting a New Life"! Yes, it took all three of us. It is amazing how our paintings look while we are working on them in the studio. Studio Art and Soul is a working studio, so once the art is out of the studio and in a gallery or a home....it looks even better. I hope that Lindsay and Wes like it. John and I sat in the living room and commented that for such a small space, a very large canvas was just what the decorating doctor ordered. The warm grey background really grounds the painting, and pics up the nuetral in the sofa. Wes is at his bachelor party in Memphis, Tennesseeand Lindsay is at her bachelorette bash in Charleston, South Carolina. So hopefully they will be surprised when they return. Here I am sitting on the sofa in the cute little apartment.

Only the Lonely

Only the Lonely
8" x 16" Oil on Cotton Panel
Palette Knife Painting
This painting is wet with lots of thick oil layered on the panel. I took it to Dutch Art Gallery yesterday, and Pam is going to frame it up in a beautful gold frame. I can't wait to see it! I got the palette knife out and created this empty nest----off center on the canvas. It will be hanging for the Artists of Texas Show in November and December. Thanks so much for viewing my blog. Please come by the Texas Discovery Gardens tonight for the reception!!!
